The unique and unforgettable ceremony of Meher and Alex marked the beginning of everything that was about to come on their big day. For their grand final event, the couple moved with their guests to the exclusive Sheraton Hotels and Resorts - Overland Park. Here, the evening initiated with a heartwarming photo session of the lovely couple by the talented photo team of Mojica Photography. Meher donned a magenta lengha with a gorgeous loose hairstyle creation of Primp and Blow A Blow Dry Bar Legacy she looked incredibly beautiful. Showing off his best handsome finery, Alex wore an elegant black tuxedo suit that made him look great for the camera as he made his big entrance with his lovely bride. The soulmates cut a spectacular buttercream cake which Kim the Cake Lady’s bakery team created and charmingly decorated with violet and lavender color flowers that follow along with the décor that Kiransdecorations designed for the gala. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met at the London School of Economics. I knew he was the "the one" when he took me to see the pandas at the zoo (and was just as excited as I was).
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
At the zoo! We first started dating in DC and one of our early dates was to the zoo. We since moved to New York. Alex arranged a weekend back in DC where we went to all of our old date spots. When we got to the zoo we reminisced about when we first met, how much fun we had sitting and talking for hours at brunches (and still do!). When we got to a secluded part of the zoo, he popped the question. And I said YES!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Color was very important to me. I wanted bright happy colors. I also wanted to spend money only on what I cared about. We also wanted to blend all our traditions, east, and west. The Lodge was the perfect venue. We knew the minute we got there, that it was our spot. From there we worked with Kaylie at KP Events and designs to blend the red barn Kansas western look with touches reflecting my Indian roots. The theme for the ceremony was sunshine, from the colors of my dress and bouquet to the golden decor and even walking out to Here Comes the Sun. It was perfect. The reception was more traditional but mixed with a romantic summer evening theme. The colors were jewel toned with shades of purples and magentas. The decor was candle centric to bring out the romantic vibe, and it worked out beautifully.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had sunshine in mind from the start. I knew our wedding would be about happiness through and through and sunshine brings pure happiness to mind. For the reception, I knew I wanted jewel-toned, a perfect color for deep summer.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The planning dates with Alex. We would set aside time over a home-cooked brunch and work through what needed to be done, sipping on tea, and loving every moment of it.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think they enjoyed the blend of cultures. Our officiant, my cousin, did a beautiful job celebrating our diversity as a couple, and a lot of our guests commented on how well he officiated for us. And the horse. Everyone always loves the horse at the baraat.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Sitting next to my hubby to be on the joola (swing) at our sangeet and looking at him knowing it was all about to begin. We had done it and done it together. I couldn't have been happier.
Seeing his goofy grin as I walked down the aisle was pretty priceless too.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The mehendi was at my house where I grew up and we invited the groom's family for dinner. We had a beautiful tent set up outside and lights everywhere. I loved my Mehendi outfit, it was teal and orange. It was a perfect start to the festivities.
The haldee was also at my house, indoors because it rained. There was just the right level of maasti. My favorite moment was looking around and seeing all my aunts, uncles and cousins running around laughing teasing each other. There was so much love and happiness in the room. I felt so blessed.
The sangeet performances were perfect. My best friend and cousin, both named Sonia, emceed the evening. It was a mix of speeches, dances and other performances. One of the most fun moments for us during the wedding was performing a surprise dance that we had been practicing together a few weeks before. It didn't matter to us how it looked, we were so happy practicing and eventually performing for everyone together.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy every moment. Let yourself be showered in love and doted on. You deserve it.

My bouquet was the most beautiful flower arrangement I had ever seen in my life. I couldn't stop staring at it. I had not expected that! Kaylie is an incredibly talented florist. Every floral arrangement was put together with such care. My hair flowers were incredible.
Our cake was a simple three-layered cake, two layers were marble and one was almond. We thought the marble was a nice touch - a vanilla and chocolate mix.
I absolutely love s'mores and the Sheraton did an amazing job making s'mores happen at the reception. They also took such care to ensure that the British dishes my hubby wanted were prepared to his satisfaction.
