Hello loves! Today we have the gorgeous Indian wedding of Vimmy and Nikhil, a charming affair with tons of details and bold colors for your Tuesday dose of inspiration! Epique Cinema captured loads of portraits of the happy couple and created a lovely cinematic version of the events previously featured in our Video Blog! The couple entrusted the planning process to Elaan Events who worked untiringly to create an array of wonderful pre-wedding events that preceded an unforgettable ceremony at the Omni Frisco! The lovely Vimmy had a dazzling and elegant mehndi design from Samira's Henna Designs as part of her pivotal pre-wedding rituals and as a complement to her exquisite emerald green jewelry provided by Bhawaani Jewelers! Weddings by Farah created an impressive backdrop effect with a half-moon mandap, red roses and traditional sculptures that gave the guests a serious wow moment! Bring back to life the sweet union of Vimmy and Nikhil in our full gallery!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Nikhil and I have known each other since we were still in our teens. Surprisingly, he once picked my friends and I up when our car broke down and dropped us all off at my house back when we were acquaintances. I was friends with his cousins, and due to that, I ran into him once more. I had on a Weeknd hat, and we stirred up a conversation on music. I could see a couple of our friends looking over because they knew right away something was happening. Nikhil's phone was surprisingly "dead" and wasn't able to share his music information with me so he put his number in my phone and the rest was history!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Italy is both of our favorite country, with the history, immense amount of pizza and wine - how could it not. We both decided to travel there as our first big trip together. Starting on the Amalfi Coast and making our way to Tuscany. Since Nikhil and I are both extreme foodie, we had decided early on that we will try more local food and splurge on one really nice date night. For that, we decided to go to Ravello for the day. Nikhil told me we have a dinner reservation at Villa Cimbrone which is a hotel and has a garden within there, but the garden closes early so we have to be there at a certain time. He had photographers set up already and they decided since rain was in the forecast, we will push up the proposal. Once we reach the gardens, Nikhil hands his phone to a couple to take our picture (that couple was our photographers and that was Nikhil's signal to them that he's about to propose). We turn around and are admiring the view from the gardens when Nikhil starts being really sweet. It threw me off a little because we always joke around with each other, so I kept interrupting him asking why he's being weird. And finally he gets down on one knee - and I was blown away. It took me a little bit to even notice the photographers, but they captured my shock and happiness beautifully.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I love wedding planning is what I realized throughout the process. Nikhil and I are also huge football fanatics with the Cowboys being his favorite team and mine the NY Giants. Which was only fitting we choose Omni Frisco which is partly owned by Jerry Jones and part of Cowboys Headquarters. Also, I realized, Nikhil is one of those guys that will always want to help and support me. I used him tremendously in the whole planning process. He dealt with everything Venue related, while I did the other smaller items such as Decor. When it came to decor, I wanted someone I could trust, that would help me achieve the royal look I was going for. That when Farah came in, I went through every detail of the weekend every time I met with her and she came through and more that weekend!
Hair and Makeup - Let's say I definitely stalked many Instagram wedding handles. I knew a couple of things, I wanted my Sangeet/Garba to be very colorful. This went with my decor theme, as well as my outfit. For the wedding, I wanted to keep it classy and everlasting look (you can't go wrong with that ever). And finally, I wanted to have the colors of reception to be Silver and Blue (Cowboys color for my lovely hubby) and that's why my dress is silver and the decor is blue!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Just like most Indian brides, I wanted Sabyasachi - Unfortunately, I never had time in India to make it to the actual store but luckily for me, my cousin is really into fashion and has her own designer. I sent her pictures of how I wanted my length to look such as the pink and red oodhni. I wanted contrasts in there so I added the pink oodhni and the green jewelry.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Being with the friends and family that travel so far. It's stressful when planning to think you have so many people coming to your wedding, but when the time comes and you look around the room, it's crazy to think how many people love you to share this moment with you.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Nikhil and my goal was we want everyone from kids to grandparents to have fun. And from everyone we have spoken to they have absolutely loved the wedding and had the time of their life.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Walking to the mandap! I had no reason to cry, my parents live 5 minutes from my in-laws, but walking up there with my mama's all I could see was the tears building up in my mom's eyes.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Sangeet/Garba - As I mentioned above - color was the goal and I got that. From the decor, makeup to outfit. I also wanted most of my performances on that night.
Reception - I loved my stage. And all thanks goes to my decorator, who during our first meeting had her guys set up that look and I fell in love. It was something new for both her and me.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Delegate. I can be very controlling in a sense I like things a certain way, but having my in-laws, parents and especially my husband help me I think I was very stress-free.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I loved my jewelry. I know the type of style I wanted for each event and all I had to do was find it. The biggest thing when you go to India for wedding shopping is, do not let these salespeople harass you into buying things they want to sell. I was very adamant about my style and color - which paid off.
There is so much more about this beautiful union! Check out our following post.
