Mariam & Tariq's vision was this fabulous spree at the Courtyard Boston Downtown, with all the necessary ingredients that certainly made it a unique experience. Their love and complicity can be felt through the pictures brought to us by our friends from Michaelangelo Photography, and it is just so magical to witness. After the ceremony, the now newlyweds wanted to pamper their loved ones, and what better way to do that than with the culinary wonders from Roti Boti Restaurant? Superb dishes for a superb wedding! It was finally time to dance so the team from Xtreme Productions indeed brought some extreme and romantic sounds for everyone to enjoy and guess what? It was a complete success. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Tariq is from Trumbull, CT and I (bride) am from Boston, MA. I met Tariq at Brown University while he was in Medical School and I was a graduate student in the School of Public Health. We bonded over our mutual interest in QI in healthcare.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I loved and enjoyed every aspect of wedding planning! My vision for our wedding was timeless, classic, and elegant in the heart of Boston. Our wedding theme colors were traditional ivory and gold with red accents, blush lighting, florals, pearls, and velvet. Venue: I fell in love with this hidden gem of a venue in Downtown Boston. Emily Barrett and Megan Cote were incredible to work with from the Courtyard Boston Downtown, from being easily accessible and flexible during the planning process to beautifully coordinating our ceremony and reception. Hair and make-up: After seeing Mahwish Ali Beauty on Instagram and hearing raving reviews from friends, I flew in make-up artist Mahwish Ali from Maryland for hair make-up and dupatta/ jewelry setting. She is so fun to work with and her work is absolutely stunning. She did beautiful hair and make-up for my family and bridesmaids. Bridesmaid outfits: I worked with MIRI designer Mera Anwar to create a custom look for my 15 bridesmaids (5 designs in gold and mauve tones). I loved her creative vision and she was wonderful to work with. Decor: Shazia from Dhol Baja Baraat was wonderful to work with from Windsor, CT. Photographer: Michael Angelo Lucus flew from Edmonton, Canada to photograph our wedding festivities for 3 days and I am so happy he did! Not only is he a joy to work with, but his photography skills are beyond incredible. He is truly an artist.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
After much research on Pakistani bridal designers, my mom and I decided on Republic Womenswear Bridal Couture Heritage collection by designer Sana Omar. I immediately fell in love with the Heritage Collection. For the wedding, I was looking for oxblood red and vintage gold colors, with some velvet components. Republic Womenswear was also able to create a custom velvet shawl for me to wear with my bridal dress.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was working with my best friends and family! I am so grateful for wonderful friends who are like sisters and my supportive family for being there every step of the way!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The Bharat! My husband shut down Tremont Street, one of Boston's busiest streets, for his arrival on a horse with the Bharat and dhol master. Bostonians crowded the sidewalks, the garage, the shops, to see a glimpse of what was happening. The bride was upstairs in the hotel watching from her window above. Crowds cheered Tariq on, the Bharat danced away, and dhol music filled the air as the bride's family welcomed the groom's side and joined the festivities outside of the Courtyard Boston Downtown.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
A special moment was our nikkah ceremony, which was private, small and intimate with our immediate families prior to the reception. Another special moment which we absolutely loved was seeing all of our most favorite people under one roof, with all of our close friends and family, for the ultimate reunion to celebrate the beginning of our lives together as husband and wife.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
The wedding weekend goes by too quickly, remember to enjoy your wedding day surrounded by those you love!
