The most important day of Avani & Divesh's lives finally arrived and they were officially husband and wife. Of course, such a joyous moment had to be celebrated with all the Maharani style and charm we all love so much. But careful! Weddings can get hectic! For that reason, our newlyweds recruited the team of The Marigold Company to assist with the planning, design and photo booths of the gala. Seriously, when you have such talent in your corner, chances are that your wedding will run as smooth as butter and lucky for our couple, that was the case! Just wait until you see the fashion choices these two lovebirds wore for cocktails! Maharani Avani's light coral toned saree just left me sighing. Such a romantic flair couldn't go unnoticed here in Maharani Weddings, so ladies, head down to part two of our gallery of today, thanks to Geeta Randery and get inspired!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Divesh at a birthday party while he still had a Bajirao curly-Q mustache, and I could tell he was something special when I asked if I could stick a straw through the mustache to see if it would hold, and he said yes. For our first date (a hangout as friends that later became a date by circumstantial connections), we went to the movies. The movie was, of course, Bajirao Mastani.

The location was our favorite secluded little beach in Laguna. The day he chose to propose, it was crowded with over 150+ people. I was tipped off on the plan when I saw a friend of mine randomly walking around trying to be inconspicuous in everything but appropriate beach attire, claiming to be there with his "other friends" when confronted. But I could tell the crowd wasn't something Divesh had anticipated, so I was expecting him to delay until we reached a different spot. As we sat and chatted about life, he told me he had something for me. While I sat there, impressed that he was about to propose in front of all these people, he pulled out a chicken nugget and asked if I was hungry. He said he wasn't sure when we'd be able to get dinner, so he decided to pack his leftovers from lunch. I shook my head and laughed at his usual absurdity, and thought, "he's not going to do it now." So I got up, turned around, and started to brush off all the sand while asking where he wanted to go to eat, so we could get him some real food. I was listing off restaurant options and babbling about why he was so quiet when I turned towards him and saw him on one knee. I realized every person on the beach was also quiet and had their eyes on us. He said a few very sweet, and very unintelligible, things and asked me to marry him. When I said yes, the whole beach applauded and cheered, and several people came up to us to offer their congratulations. It was then that some of my friends that had come to help capture the moment started to make their way through the crowd and surprise me. It was definitely an unforgettable day.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted a maroon lengha, and designing it was purely based off of pictures and pointing out details I did not want. It seemed easier to figure out what I for sure didn't like, rather than narrow down what I did.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Time and time again, we've had friends and family share with us how our wedding was their favorite experience with any wedding, ever. I think what made it so enjoyable was that, despite having every detail planned, there was a relaxed vibe throughout all the events. Divesh and I are a very easy-going, fun-loving couple, and so we enjoyed every moment to the fullest, even those in which things were going awry. We danced without shoes, stayed up way too late during the pre-wedding events, laughed throughout the ceremony, and didn't put more importance on any of the details over ourselves and the fact that, by the end, we would be married. Being able to genuinely laugh and enjoy with guests is what made our weekend so memorable for everyone. That, and the food.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The moment that we sat in the car after the vidaai, and the car started to leave the noise of the family and friends behind and we had our first moment of quiet. That moment was when the reality finally sank in- we were married. That was when we both realized what all the planning was for, joining us together in life and love as husband and wife. It was our first peaceful moment together, away from the craziness of all the events, and it was by far the best moment of the year.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Plan the wedding of your dreams. Leading up to it, try to find a way to incorporate everything you've always wanted to have in your special day. But when the day comes, remember to relax, and not get hung up on the details. Trust that your vendors and family/friends will do the best they can, but ultimately it's out of your control. So just sit back and enjoy what's most important- that you are marrying someone you love and who loves you. The rest of the details are just temporary background noise that will eventually fade away, but your new partner in crime will be by your side forever. Be a part of that moment.
