Good morning, Maharanis! We just reach the middle of this phenomenal week, and we have a fantastic surprise prepared just for you! Are you ready to be amazed? I bet you are! Today, you will need to have your passport ready because we are taking you to Costa Rica to admire the beauty that surrounded Parthvi & Anuar's wedding festivities! You are welcome to join us at the exclusive Los Suenos Marriott Ocean and Golf Resort, the ideal venue chosen by our lovely duo to celebrate their promise of eternal love. And let me tell you that the "Pura Vida" vives enchanted every single guest. So awesome! Our friends from Tropical Occasions were in charge of transforming our lovebird's vision into a dream come true, and the way they did it was so impressive that we found ourselves lost in words over so much beauty. Hands down the wedding was a huge success! Our gorgeous Maharani showcased her natural beauty, stealing everyone's attention, especially Raja Anuar's, who couldn't take his eyes off of her. She trusted her beauty needs to Anisha Creations, who designed a fantastic makeup and hairstyle for her. The special touch of the celebration was in charge of Stylos y Flores, who crafted a spectacular decoration. The phenomenal beats played by the talented MVP DJs, who turned the reception gala into a mix of tropical but at the same time a traditional party, the dances, the emotive speeches, and the delicious food were the right ingredients for this memorable celebration. And we are so lucky that our good friends from Sachi Anand Photography were there to capture every detail, which gave life to this fantastic gallery. Make sure to visit it. You will love it!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
R. During the fall semester of my freshman year at Penn State University, I was rushing for a few sororities. While I was at one of the events, Anuar introduced himself to me. I specifically remember that he was freshly tan, super smiley and so easily to talk to. While we chatted, we realized that we both had attended the football game earlier that day (...and explained his sunburn haha).
Anuar has been there for me through so many ups and downs. There are so many moments that I probably can't even remember at this point, but there were two really telling times that solidified our relationship:
1. Despite both of us having classes, Anuar drove me home from Penn State to my house 2.5 hours away just so I could surprise my sister and say goodbye before she moved to California
2. In 2015, he moved from his parent's house in Pennsylvania to California so we could live near each other again
After these two moments, his integrity and willingness to go above and beyond for me was so clear. I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I did a ton of research and changed my mind so many times before finally choosing! I had originally wanted to get something similar to Priyanka Chopra's lehenga, but my mom suggested to have some contrasting work. I continued the search and was then inspired by Sabyasachi's regal looks in traditional red with embroidery. I worked directly with Gauri Fashions to customize this dress and an additional contrasting pink dupatta to wear as my veil. For the color, I definitely wanted to stay in line with traditional red and added my own twist with a pop of pink to contrast with the tropical scenery of Costa Rica.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My favorite moment happened during the Sangeet. We switched the music from garba to salsa, so the Colombians were teaching the Indians how to salsa. Despite the language barriers and cultural differences, everyone came together on the dance floor and danced their hearts away. Anuar and I always bonded over the fact that both of our cultures love to dance, and we were able to see all of our loved ones prove that dance truly is a universal language.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
- Don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo in terms of typical Indian weddings. Change it up if you can!
- Prepare your family and friends so they can help manage any vendors so you can let go of the details as the events begin.
- Do your best to soak each moment in and enjoy all the love around you during the wedding weekend!
- Consider reducing the number of events for guests to attend; it can be tiring for the wedding party and guests to squeeze everything into a long weekend
- Being a desi, we all know there will be haters. Let the haters hate, and push away any negative energy that's around you. Just shine like the beautiful bride you'll be!
We have something special prepared for you tomorrow. So, make sure to visit us. Same place, same time!
