Somerset, NJ Indian Wedding by Ami Video

Purvi and Hiren’s Indian ceremony set-up at The Marigold was chock-full of bridal inspiration. We are big fans of mixing sunset hues with golden Indian accents, and Abhishek Decorators combined these two concepts seamlessly for the ceremony decor. The royal furniture and hundreds of flickering candles against pink and orange chiffon draping was a gorgeous contrast. Guests jumped for joy at the emotional affair when the couple were declared Mr. and Mrs. Purvi was a vision in a beautiful white and red lehenga, with amazingly ornate jewelry and picture-perfect beauty details by Makeup by Anita. After the sweet ceremony, Purvi and Hiren were ready to get the party started at their reception soiree. The newlyweds were a breathtaking couple, with Hiren in a fitted tux and Purvi in a diaphanous peach gown. Again, Abhishek Decorators created stunning reception decor in hues of purple and white. Guests had a fantastic time noshing on bites by Chand Palace and rocking out to music by Premier Entertainment. Kudos to the planning masters from Tum Hi Ho Events for organizing every detail to perfection. Check out the full gallery below for more photos of the festivities taken by Ami Video, and scroll down to read more details from Purvi herself!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Hiren and I met while working at an investment bank in NYC. We like to joke that we fell in love over our mutual love for excel formulas. Every morning we would go grab coffee together in Grand Central Station. Little did Hiren know that I didn't really like coffee but I liked the company! Our friendship soon turned into a romance.

I knew Hiren was the one from very early on. I don't have a specific moment where I feel like I knew but rather it was a the feeling that just kept growing. I could not picture my life without him. He was always so calm, cool and collected. I was the opposite, always worrying and worked up over things. He just had this way of calming me down and supporting me in every way. Hiren is the ying to my yang and I knew that I wanted him around forever!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

On December 5th, 2015 we went ice skating at the Rockefeller Center in front of the Christmas tree! I was so excited to finally go and it was even more special because we were celebrating an anniversary. We skated around the rink soaking in this already magical moment. The rink started to clear out but Hiren would not let me leave. He was adamant about getting a picture of us in front of the tree on the ice (the funny part is he never asks to take pictures when we are out). Suddenly John Legend's All Of Me started playing and Hiren got down on one knee in front of our family, friends, and hundreds of total strangers. Might I add that he managed to do it smoothly in skates without falling! It was a magical moment!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I went to India in search of my bridal lengha. I knew going in I wanted an all white dress with a bit of red somewhere. Prior to leaving for India I searched online for different styles and ideas but was never really able to find what I wanted. On the first day of shopping it was the first dress I saw in the store. I didn't want to get too excited because it felt too surreal. How could I have found my dress so quickly. I continued to look at different ones but kept going back to the first one. It was an all white lengha with gold details a red dupatta. As soon as I tried it on I felt like it was made just for me!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

We have heard so many great things about the venue! We picked Marigold as our wedding venue when it was still being built. All we saw were renderings of the finished product but it was just the type of venue we were looking for. A modern style banquet hall with elegant and glamorous finishes. I'm not going to lie and say I wasn't nervous about how it would turn out but the place was even better than I pictured and all the guests loved it. There was a beautiful outdoor cocktail hour space with fountains and a gazebo, perfect for pictures. Our guest really enjoyed experiencing a brand new hall! I can't wait to attend a wedding there so I can experience what they did at ours.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

I always think back to our reception. DJ Ambition had the crowd going the whole time and there was never a dull moment on the dance floor. I loved watching Hiren enjoying himself and dancing the night away. This is a rarity as Hiren is always reserved when it comes to dancing. But not that night! I remember him having a huge smile on this face and breaking it down! At the end of the reception DJ Ambition was announcing the last song of the night and everyone on the floor kept chanting "one more, one more". He did not disappoint and played a few more tracks!

Have a magical weekend Maharanis!

Houston, TX, Indian Wedding by Tomas Ramos Photographers & Film Production

Divya and Jinesh’s happiness and radiance sure set the tone for the ceremony at The Westin Houston, Memorial City, which was simply out of this world. “I wanted a traditional South Indian bridal look for the ceremony”, said Divya, who effortlessly carried off a perfectly pleated Kanjeevaram sari in hues of white, green, and somber gold. Anita Barua of Blush and Glow styled Divya’s hair in a traditional braid with ornate rose and jasmine flowers, and topped it off with a jeweled matha patti. With DJ Yogi of Karma DJ's Baraat beats and Gurkaran Singh’s Dhol welcomed the groom and his party to  the ceremony. Decor One created a floral marvel in the name of a mandap! We were totally in awe of the glorious arch mandap with rose lace and tulle drapery, and a floral ceiling with suspended chandeliers. If you ever have second thoughts about playing with gold tones at any event, you need to take a look at this meticulously planned reception via the gallery! The couple took center stage with Divya in a lovely pale pink beaded tulle gown, and Jinesh in a black tux paired with an elegant lavender tie. The floral ceiling from the ceremony well-deservedly found a place in the reception as well, right above the ivory and blush pink cake by Supreme Kakes, that had crystal drops between tiers. Food is an integral part of Indian weddings and never disappoints, but Marble Slab Creamery and Bombay Brasserie took it to the next level! We loved the sophisticated tea party-esque feel of the dessert corner. This self-orchestrated event was brimming with details, and Tomas Ramos Photography and Film Productions did a fantastic job covering it all through their impressive photography and cinematography. With so many stunning photos to choose from, we found it so challenging to curate the gallery for this one, so be sure to go browse through it!

So there you go, if you choose to orchestrate your own wedding, you know what to refer to! We'll bring you more wedding galore tomorrow, but until then, enjoy this tete-a-tete with this Maharani Divya, who shared all the intimate details of the days leading up to her wedding:

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?

We met while we were in medical school at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. He came up to me to introduce himself on the very first day of orientation.

Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?

The groom, our families, and friends really blew me away with the engagement. He planned a surprise proposal at the Japanese Gardens in Hermann Park in Houston. A few of our close friends were waiting in the bushes to surprise us after with a champagne toast. Our families surprised us at dinner shortly after the proposal. The next day, our friends threw us an engagement party. The day after that our families threw us a traditional Indian engagement ceremony with our closest family and friends. I had no idea that the entire weekend was already planned. I essentially just showed up.

Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?

We did not have a wedding planner or day of planner so our family and friends really helped execute this event! Our family friend arranged the food--so we had special touches like a live sushi station at the reception cocktail hour, live paan station at the sangeet, marble slab for dessert at the reception. Another family friend came to every meeting with the decorator and picked amazing decor. We had a flower wall with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling to act as the centerpiece above the mandap and as for the focal point for the reception dance floor. So many family members and friends performed dances at the sangeet (we had at least 8 dances).

Houston, TX, Indian Wedding by Tomas Ramos Photographers & Film Production

There is something special and intimate about weddings that are self-planned. Divya and Jinesh’s wedding celebrations had us hooked from the get-go, which was the surprise proposal  at Japanese Gardens. The Westin Houston, Memorial City was the chosen venue for all three events. When Divya told us that she opted for a champagne and peach color palette, we knew this would be no ordinary wedding, and turns out we were right! Put together by Decor One, the Sangeet looked like a tangerine blue fest, with an interplay of mint, pastel yellow, blue, and orange drapes that featured champagne gold embroidery work, on the stage. Gussied up in blush pink tones and a side bun by Anita Barua from Blush and Glow, Divya twirled pretty in her signature Anushree Reddy floral lehenga and gold Jimmy Choos. We hardly get a chance to say this about a groom's outfit, but Jinesh won us over with his spiffy silk bandhgala, in an atypical color combination of jade and red. While DJ Yogi Goyal from Karma DJs turned up the party quotient, Udipi Cafe had the guests covered with their delectable subcontinental vegetarian cuisine. Divya’s South Indian heritage and Jinesh’s Gujarati roots resulted in a ceremony that was a perfect cultural harmony. See for yourself by visiting their gallery, which was evidently a work of artistry by Tomas Ramos Photography and Film.
