Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since P and I first met in Aruba during our study abroad program, the beauty of the Caribbean became a big part of our love story. We loved hanging out at Eagle Beach, especially after exams or when we needed a break from life's stresses.
When it came time to plan our wedding, choosing the Dominican Republic was an easy decision. The Hard Rock Punta Cana had everything we wanted: beautiful beaches, nice rooms, lots of food options, good drinks, plenty of venues, and direct flights. Plus, the rates were reasonable, and they promised to focus on making our South Asian celebration extra special.
For our vendors, we turned to Vancouver, knowing they understood the style we were going for. Finding the right hair and makeup team was important, especially since they'd be with me in the Dominican sun, making sure I looked great all day.
P spent hours searching for the perfect DJ on SoundCloud, and he nailed it with DJ Apogee. We wanted our music to be diverse and exciting, so we made sure there was no monotony in our playlists.
Our Dholi, chosen by P, kept the energy high all night long. Our wedding planner, Preety, connected us with a fantastic videographer and photographer who captured every special moment. Preety also connected us with a talented Henna artist who skillfully adorned my hands and feet with intricate designs, each symbolizing a special moment from our love story.
When it came to our outfits, we made a trip to India to find the perfect attire. I fell in love with Rimple and Harpreet's designs, while P went for fully custom-made bespoke clothes that matched mine but added a pop of color that had our family and friends enjoying his clothing at each event just as much as mine.
Our wedding was more than just a party – it was a beautiful blend of love, laughter, and different cultures, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Caribbean.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Deep down, I really wanted to wear pink for my wedding, something a bit different from the usual red. I've always admired the designs of Rimple and Harpreet, so I thought, why not go for a RAH outfit?
I kicked off my search in Delhi, hitting up their store in Defense Colony first. But honestly, none of their stuff felt right for me.
I thought maybe the Mehrauli store would have more options, but no luck there either. I spent a good chunk of time going around Delhi, checking out different designers, but still couldn't find what I was looking for.
My family kept asking, "How will you know when you've found the one?" I joked back, saying, "I'll get goosebumps and probably cry!"
My sister-in-law had a lightbulb moment, realizing I was dead set on getting something from RAH. So, she called up her friend at the Defense Colony store, begging for help.
Turns out, they had a secret stash in the warehouse—a new outfit that hadn't even hit the shelves yet. I was game to wait it out.
Trying on that lehenga was like magic. Goosebumps? Check. Tears? Yep, they were there too. Stepping out in that dress, I knew my hunt in India wouldn't end without it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable aspect of wedding planning is undoubtedly envisioning the perfect dream wedding together. From exploring potential venues and meeting with vendors to indulging in food tastings and curating the ideal menu, from crafting playlists that capture emotions at just the right moments to diving into DIY projects and adding personal touches, every step of the journey is a delightful learning experience. Pre-wedding events add to the excitement, but it's the culmination of all these efforts on the big day itself that truly makes the entire process worthwhile.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Guests particularly loved how we meticulously planned our events with color themes and organized a PDF wardrobe planner to assist them in packing for our celebrations. They were enamored by the ambiance of the resort, especially our unique decor that changed daily, ensuring each day held a fresh surprise. Many guests expressed that each event's decor surpassed the previous one.
As the first destination wedding in both families, guests relished the opportunity to gather at the resort for the celebration. They described it as a grand family vacation, relishing the chance to unwind during the day and dress up to commemorate the love in the air. They appreciated the variety of venue spaces and the cohesive themes we had meticulously crafted.
Our guests also appreciated how we broke from traditional Hindu customs by celebrating all our events together, foregoing separate rituals like the Haldi ceremony and Sangeets. Ultimately, they cherished the intimate moments we shared, noting the personal attention Ritika and I extended to each and every one of them. It was essential for us to reciprocate the love and respect they had shown by traveling the distance to support us.
These guests had stood by our sides since the beginning of our journey together, making it exceptionally meaningful for them to witness our ceremonies. Their presence made our wedding all the more special, infusing it with love, joy, and cherished memories.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I still vividly recall P's words, "Babe, once we board that flight, whatever plans we've made, whatever happens or doesn't, let it all go. We'll embrace every moment from start to finish because there's nothing we can change anymore." His reassurance as my soon-to-be husband brought a sense of calm. The memories we crafted with our loved ones at The Hard Rock during our wedding will forever be cherished. Every event held its own significance, but what truly stood out was our mutual agreement: we'd eagerly relive it all again and again together if given the chance.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The décor for each event was meticulously curated by P and me, with the invaluable assistance of our wedding planner, Preety, to imbue every ceremony with its own unique atmosphere.
At our Welcome Party, we set the stage for a relaxed yet vibrant gathering. Against a backdrop of twinkling fairy lights and swaying Caribbean palm trees, guests were enveloped in a boho-chic ambiance. Laughter and chatter filled the air as friends and family mingled, sharing travel tales and anticipation for the days ahead. A dance floor illuminated by string lights beckoned guests to dance the night away while custom bars added a touch of sophistication to the scene.
Our Haldi ceremony took place in a serene Glass Gazebo, where traditional marigolds adorned the backdrop. Surrounded by loved ones, we embraced the joyful ritual of applying Haldi together before heading to the beach for a spirited game of Holi, followed by a cleansing dip in the azure waters of the Caribbean.
Sangeet night, always a highlight for us, was a colorful extravaganza infused with nostalgia. A swingset adorned with vibrant bougainvillea flowers served as our focal point, while a wooden teepee provided a cozy spot for henna application. String lights cast a magical glow over the festivities, culminating in a breathtaking firework display set to the backdrop of Coldplay's "Hymn for the Weekend," a moment that left us and our guests in awe.
For our wedding ceremony, we envisioned a mandap adorned with an array of bright flowers, contrasting beautifully against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea. As we exchanged vows, the sunbathed us in its warm glow, creating a moment of pure magic.
The night of our Wedding, our guests were treated to a memorable dinner at the Hibachi and Steak restaurant, followed by an unforgettable party at Oro Night Club. The energy on the dance floor was electrifying, with guests of all ages joining in the celebration until the early hours of the morning.
Finally, our Reception was a vision of romance and grandeur. As we stepped into the hall, we were stunned by the opulent décor, with ostrich feathers, towering candles, and gold accents creating an atmosphere of luxury. It was a night that exceeded our wildest dreams, a celebration of love and joy that will be etched in our memories forever.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
The journey to becoming a bride is long, tedious, and mentally taxing, yet undeniably worthwhile. When the big day finally arrives, it whirls by in a blur, unfolding at a dizzying pace from start to finish. While it's crucial to respect everyone's decisions, desires and needs on your special day, it's equally important to have a wedding planner fully dedicated to you and your soon-to-be husband. Ultimately, in that moment, you two are the sole focus.
Though tensions may run high, remember to smile, laugh, dance, and above all, respect each other. With roughly five hours allotted per event, it's not worth losing yourself over minor mishaps. If something doesn't go as planned, simply move forward—your guests likely won't even notice. Your smile holds the power to radiate positivity to your loved ones, encapsulating all the emotions you're experiencing as you take center stage on your wedding day.

Not just in memories but also in a visual feast, celebrating Ritika and Parul's journey of love.

Cleveland, OH Indian Wedding by Making the Moment Photo

After getting married in 2020, Pia and Om postponed their wedding reception to 2021. The wait paid off! These two planned the most lovely celebration that included a Sangeet, a Mehndi function and a beautiful bash at the unique Tenk West Bank. This locale is a warehouse built in the 1880s as a machine and tool factory! The former industrial spot set the scene for this grand celebration that featured a joyful Baraat procession that incorporated the bride and groom and that kicked start the party. The bridal entourage showcased mismatched ensembles while Pia showed off her best style wearing a gorgeous lehenga choli set in a blue hue. She effortlessly expressed her own style, opting for a natural hair and makeup look and light jewelry. Decorated with reddish mandala mehndi designs, Pia's hands were perfectly on point with her trousseau! Raja Om looked super dapper! He picked a burgundy dinner jacket paired with a black bow tie and tuxedo pants. Just the right amount of glam for the occasion! Gorgeous greenery and a stunning palette of yellow, orange, and white blooms decorated the large room and elevated the reception's decor. At the same time, wedding professional DJ Mavi exceeded all expectations offering the partygoers a large selection of music. This highly experienced DJ guaranteed the party went on until late! While dim lights gave the venue an auspicious vibe where everyone could mingle and celebrate Pia and Om! The magic of the evening was artistically captured by Making the Moment Photography! The acclaimed photo artists tell the story of this couple's festival of love in a gallery you can't miss! Check out every snap and get inspired by this exceptional event.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our overall experience was pretty stressful as we had less than 6 months to plan. I loved my make-up artist, Meghna (color rouge) she was amazing and very accommodating. She understood my vision and did an amazing job. I got all my outfits from India, I loved all my outfits. Elegant affairs, our decorator did a great job on the decor. We went back and forth a lot but I love how the décor ended at the end. We also wanted a non-traditional venue for our wedding, we got lucky with Envue. They have an amazing patio with an amazing view. Our photographers ( studioKSD) were amazing, they understood our vision and made up feel super comfortable through the week. We loved how the photos and videos turned out.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always knew what I wanted for my bridal outfits. I wanted a colorful pastel piece for the sangeet outfit and have been following papa don’t preach for years and knew I wanted to have that for my sangeet outfit. When I wore my sangeet lehenga I knew this was the one. I wanted something traditional but modern for my wedding saree being south Indian. I found this monochromatic saree which I fell in love with. For my reception outfit, I knew I wanted Seem Gujral. I love her work and have been following her for weeks. I love the red lehenga.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think just seeing how everything was coming together and the food and cake tastings.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They loved the venue and the view. The wedding and reception décor was a hit with everyone
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
It was the fact that our friends and families traveled from all parts of the world just to celebrate with us. Most of our families live in Dubai, Nigeria, Australia, and India.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For the sangeet, we wanted something really colorful, and elegant affairs did a great job. We had a flower-covered swing and a rickshaw for a photo booth. The main color theme was pink and purple. We ask our guests to wear pastels. We also wanted to have an ice gola station and all our guests loved that.
For the reception we wanted cherry blossoms, elegant affairs did a great job with that. I think we loved the reception decor the most.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Plan way ahead. Make that you book your favorite vendors asap. Also, enjoy the process, it can be stressful but you will miss it at the end.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Want to give a special shout-out to ZMGajrare for amazing gajras, she was amazing and did a great job. We loved our cake from Hudson cakery. All my jewelry was from Dubai from Malabar jewelers.

Ladies, I hope you have enjoyed today's story as much as I did. Do not forget to come back for more!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Raymon and I met at Sikh Camp when we were 14 years old. There were a group of boys playing a pick-up game of basketball, and I really wanted to play as well. Raymon was the team captain, and a mutual friend told him to pick "Avi" without him knowing that it was me. We played a couple games of basketball and I was instantly attracted to his skill. After that encounter, we chatted nearly everyday on Aol Instant Messenger and have been inseparable ever since. I knew he was "the one" pretty early on, but from high school through medical school Raymon has always pushed me to work harder and be the best version of myself, in a way that no one else was capable of doing. That's how I knew that we had a unique connection.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Raymon knows me better than I know myself, and planned our proposal intricately. It was the weekend of our Residency Match Day, so there were a lot of emotions already as we both matched into programs that we really wanted to train at. He wanted to celebrate with a weekend getaway to Montreal, and told me to pack and dress well. He picked me up from my parents house and I was under the assumption we'd be traveling to Montreal. Instead, he took me around my hometown with a beautiful lunch and a stroll through the park. In the park, he gave me a personalized picture book that took us through the journey of our relationship from high school onwards. The last page said, "and our next chapter awaits...", at that point he played my favorite song from Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and took me onto a beautiful bridge over a pond that was decorated with a banner that said "Will You Marry Me?" We then had a mini photoshoot and went home to tell my parents. When we got home, our friends and family of nearly 100 people were waiting for us on the driveway to celebrate, and we had an amazing engagement party that night!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We had so much fun planning our wedding! I think the most challenging part was picking a venue that had our time frame available and fit all of our criteria. We explored many different venues from NYC to NJ, and ultimately fell in love with Villa Lombardi's in Long Island, NY. Once we had our reception venue set, everything else fell into place. I used Maharani Weddings for vender suggestions and was really happy with our results. Through different suggestions we were able to put together a vender group that worked together to bring our dream wedding to reality.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I've always had an idea of how I wanted my bridal outfit to be. I love the color fuchsia and was pretty set on it prior to even beginning shopping. We went to India for a couple weeks which was a unique experience in itself, but after several days of exploring different options, I decided I wanted to completely customize my outfit to my liking. I ended up choosing a magenta color with floral work on the lower half, and simple beaded work on the upper half. I wore an Anarkali for the Anand Karaj.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was trying to envision what our guests would love the most. We wanted to throw in little surprises here and there to optimize our guests experience. For example, we had a unique traditional Punjabi video shoot in Punjab that was so much fun shooting. We kept it a secret for months without sharing any photos with friends or family. We showed the video during our reception and everyone was shocked but loved it. It was very much so out of our comfort zone but we knew it would be loved and appreciated.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests gave us great feedback on our wedding weekend. We are very punctual people and wanted to make sure our wedding events were well organized and had a good flow to them. Besides that, two particular moments come to mind that our guests really loved.
We had a day between our Sangat and Anand Karaj to relax and for smaller events. We decided to use that time to bring our friends and family together in a unique way by hosting a Bride Vs Groom Wedding Olympics. Our cousins actually hosted this event for us, and hired an event company to come in with different kinds of relays and games in a field day type event. Everyone got customized T-shirts depending on which side of the family they were. Then, multiple teams were made to mix up the friends and family as a great way to mingle and get to know one another. Everyone had a lot of fun participating in friendly competition. It was a unique experience for everyone and we ended the event with a Mr. Softee Ice Cream truck to relive our childhood days.
Another moment that guests loved was during the reception, my parents surprised us by flying out a Dhol group from the UK, Beats by Lion. They did an incredible job getting the party started and bringing everyone onto the dance floor for the entire night.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I always think about our dances - we choreographed one for the Sangeet and Reception together. Raymon and I were captain's of our bhangra team in College, so dance is really meaningful to us. We had a lot of fun choreographing our traditional Bhangra dance for the Sangeet, and a western fusion dance for our reception. I love to reply and watch the videos of our dance because it is evident how happy we are in those moments to be together on the dance floor.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For our decor themes, we wanted a very traditional sangeet. We actually let our parents have a lot of fun with the decor and bring out their creativity. I think my favorite part of the decor was having the kites hanging from the ceiling over the dance floor. It gave such a unique vibe and really brought the whole hall together. Our Anand Karaj we kept on the simpler side because we wanted the beauty of the Gurudwara to shine on its own. We used florals that matched well with our theme of Peach & Teal. For our reception, we wanted to go elegant and classy. We went with a floral theme with lots of pastels and candles spread throughout the hall. But, ultimately the venue itself was so beautiful. Our wedding was in September, which in NY is my favorite month because the flowers are in full bloom. The outdoor area for our cocktail hour was full of beautiful flowers and greenery.
Our Sangeet was full of dances, singing, and speeches from our loved ones. My favorite movie growing up was Kaho Na Pyaar Hai and my favorite actor was Hrithik Roshan. Our friends and family loved to make references to that throughout their dances and speeches, especially because Raymon proposed to me playing that theme song in the background.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My advice for future brides would be to stay calm and start planning early! It is great to have enough time to really explore the different options available and decide what you love the most. Having a basic idea of how you envision your wedding to be is fundamental to having a smooth planning process. Organization is key – lots and lots of excel sheets that keep all the details straight! And most importantly, it’s ok to ask your loved ones for help and delegate tasks. Ultimately, you’ll have the final decision but to have some extra hands doing the basic research is really beneficial!

We have a new magnificent event prepared for you. So visit us tomorrow!

Please come back, we have the end of this magical wedding!
