Welcome back, Maharanis! Time for a brand new Indian wedding vision and this one comes to us from McLean! Really few things are as striking as an Indian couple on their wedding day. Color, style, and glitter all over the place were just some of the characteristics that make galas like these, a truly unique experience. Sumiti & Akshay decided to tie the knot with all the glam in the world at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner and the place was at its very best. We know weddings can get a little hectic also, for that reason, our couple recruited the planning and design services of SW Events, who never fail to deliver wonderful celebrations! Such a stunning flair! Don't forget to check on Maharani Sumiti fashion choices as well! Just take a look at that awe-inspiring maroon toned bridal saree! If that doesn't say style, then nothing will! Ladies, join us one more time for today's gallery thanks to Events Capture. See you there!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met on Dil Mil. He was very mysterious on our first date, which kept me very interested. He was really good at planning our dates. My favorite date was one where we went to Barnes and Noble, picked out a Disney puzzle and sat at the mall for a couple hours trying to put it together. He eventually admitted defeat and accepted we wouldn't finish it in the same day, and found another way to ensure we'd meet again. He was always very thoughtful in planning our dates and made such an effort in making sure we would do something fun and different.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We went to Disney World! It was my first time going so my inner child definitely came out. We spent a day at each of the different parks and he proposed at Magic Kingdom, in front of the castle! It truly was the most magical, fairytale moment that every girls dreams of.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I originally thought I wanted a red lengha but tried on this one and loved it. After trying on a handful of other lenghas, I couldn't stop thinking about this one. I knew I wanted a contrast dupatta and everything about this particular lengha just seemed perfect to me.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Our siblings and cousins put together amazing performances at both the sangeet and reception. During the reception they put together an entire skit to outline our story. It was 100% spot on and brought huge smiles to our faces!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
It ALWAYS comes together in the end! It's so easy to stress about the little things during the planning process but you realize that's not what's important. When it comes to your actual wedding day, you're so overjoyed with all the love from your family, friends, and your soon to be spouse, that you don't even realize the little things you spent so much time stressing over. Enjoy the day and cherish the moments. They go by so fast!
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I absolutely loved my mehndi! I had a Mickey Mouse inside the Disney Castle on one arm to signify where we got engaged and a puzzle shaped heart on the other arm to signify our love for doing puzzles together.
Our cake was 3 different flavors - Cookie Monster, Strawberry/Lemonade, and Hazelnut Crunch. Besides the one bite we got when we fed each other, we didn't get to eat it, but we heard from all of our guests that the cake was amazing.
We had a surprise ice cream truck at the end of the reception. It was the perfect treat to end a hot summer day! Our guests loved cooling off from the reception with some ice cream.
We had a live painter that painted a scene from the wedding. She continued painting into cocktail hour and we received our painting a few weeks after our wedding. It's hanging in our living room and we love it.
More to come, don't go anywhere!
