Cancun, Mexico Sikh Fusion Wedding by Paradise Photo Studio

A second romantic beach western ceremony was on Andrea and Raj’s wedding checklist! The stunning ceremony was held facing the blue waters of Cancun at the wonderful Moon Palace Resort, the planning team Beach Wedding Vows designed a magnificent set up that included a circular greenery arch provided by Bloom marking the spot of the union! These two ditched the traditional for this occasion. The lovely bride went for a princess-type white dress while carried a beautiful pink and cream rose bouquet and the dapper groom Raj looked stylish and comfortable in a sea-green jacket paired with sand color trousers. Paradise Photo Studio preserved the enchanting ceremony and the tented beach wedding reception that followed the romantic white theme of the ceremony. Encore Event Technologies lit up the night and in the meantime, DJs Aftershock Roadshow provided a one-of-a-kind musical experience for the newlyweds and their guests. Take a closer look at this fusion wedding in paradise in our complete gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We started as preschool strangers at Tots & Blocks which turned into a lasting friendship beginning at Old Bridge High School leading into a college relationship between New Jersey and Philadelphia. Pretty much, high school sweethearts got married 11 years later.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Sunset proposal in San Juan, Puerto Rico while vacationing together before Keval moved to Jacksonville, Florida for his residency, leading to a long-distance engagement between New Jersey and Florida for 2.5 years.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We looked at a handful of venues in Central and North New Jersey area and after visiting Teresa at Hanover Marriott, it was an easy choice and made sense. I researched vendors based on prior weddings we had attended or recommendations from friends and then the decision came down to who shared our vision and good communication was a must!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My sister and mom went wedding shopping for me in India all I told them was deep red lengha with contrast dupatta (as Keval's favorite color is red). Clearly, I have a lot of trust in my sister's fashion sense although I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to fashion.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Choosing the decor for wedding and reception with my sister and our decorator that was unique in taste and would best represent us individually.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our DJ/MC definitely brought the party that evening.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Coming into our reception hall on a golf cart, we were both shocked at how much love and support was surrounding us on our special day

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Rustic/vintage decor style
My cousin sister/junior bridesmaid sang "KAUN TUJHE" as I entered on a dholi carried by all my maternal uncles during the wedding ceremony
Custom-made bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid outfits which were made by Gravity Fashion in Surat, India (ordered from and delivered to the US)
My 5 close male friends who I wanted to be a part of the wedding were my bridesmen, had custom-made sherwanis and escorted my bridesmaids during the wedding ceremony

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Try not to let the small details ruin your big day, it will all come together in the end!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Semi-naked rustic cake from Palmero's Bakery with florals from Wedding Design & Decor.
Handmade rustic wooden crate gift card box.
Handmade wine cork place card holders for the reception.
Handmade wooden signs ("Just Married" on back of horse carriage, ring bearer sign)
Mehndi design incorporated NY JETS (my team) and NY GIANTS (his team) and NJ (hometown) and Florida (current residence).

Wedding days have to come to an end. Lucky for us, memories remain forever. Be sure not to miss out our next featured wedding with all the amazing things we love about Indian tradition and color!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Rishi’s family and my family have been longtime neighbors and friends from New Delhi India. Over the years through our families kept in touch- Rishi and I had never met or talked. Somehow we became friends on Facebook due to having mutual friends. Years down the road Rishi decided to message me one day on Facebook asking on how we knew each other and we never stopped talking since. I decided to fly to NY to meet Rishi and knew he was the one the moment I met him. He shared the same values, passion, and vision in life as me, which made my decision even firmer. We dated long distance for years before we could finally be in the same state as each other.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Our first date in NY was at the Brooklyn bridge, eating pizza and ice cream under the bridge. So exactly 6 years later Rishi decided to take me to the same spot on the same day we first met. It was a cold and gloomy day in NY- but Rishi was adamant about going to the bridge to celebrate our special day. Little did I know he had the biggest surprised waiting for me. He had a videographer and photographer all waiting to capture the proposal and my sister hiding in the cafe to witness it all. He knew how much it meant to me to have my loved ones there so he flew out my little sister to NY. We took a couple pictures on the pier but it was windy and we were not able to get a good photo. So he walked over to his photographer that he had set up already and asked him to take a picture of us. The photographer asked us if we were married or getting married to let him know as he does this for a living.. and Rishi got down on one knee at that moment and asked me the question I’ve been waiting for him to ask for the past 6 yrs. Surprisingly the cloudy day turned into a sunny day immediately and we got some great pictures with Rishi's brother and my little sister. It was a dream come true. Being a jeweler, Rishi designed and created the most gorgeous ring for me. Everything I wanted and more.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
My dad got me a wedding journal breakdown from India which really helped me start on my vendors. If anyone knows me they know I am very particular about things and don’t necessarily like to follow the crowd. So I started out by booking a makeup trial with the one only Nadia Maya. I knew almost a year before the wedding that I wanted her as my glam. I honestly did not care about where we got married but my dad always wanting the best for me - he showed this winery to Rishi and I called Chateau Elan in Braselton GA. No other venue could win us over after that. For my outfits, I always knew I would have to go back to Delhi to get the newest style and fashion for all of us. So we made a trip together to Delhi about 3 months before which was the best because I got see my grandmother and shop with the family. For decor- we ended up going with Beenish due to her pleasant attitude and amazing work she does at each one of her events. We knew we couldn’t go wrong. The theme was traditional up until reception for which we tried to go for a mystical floral dream. Last but not the least where do I start about my amazing videographer crew?!
I actually saw MJS productions video posted on the famous Indianweddingbuzz Instagram. I fell in love with how he captured the special moments and make them feel so grand and Bollywood. And I wanted just that. None of the video/photo people I was reaching out to in Atlanta were giving me that feeling except mjs production in Canada. I reached out to him and he made sure to work with me and make a deal with us to come to Atlanta. I am so glad I was able to work with him. It was probably the best decision or the whole wedding vendor list listed above!!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I actually went in thinking I wanted a maroon lehenga but when I put on my Sabyasachi traditional red lehenga on - I was absolutely awestruck. His craftsmanship and style are legendary. I stuck to the traditional red lehenga with a hint of mint green for obvious reason as my wedding was to place in the middle of summer in a winery in this GA heat.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of my planning process was spending time with my mom and sister and taking our trip to India for shopping. Everything else was stressful.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests LOVED the food catered by CB catering along with the music by DJ sahib which kept the party going past our venue times. Also, Beenish did such an amazing job with decorations that all our guests mentioned how it was a treat to the eyes to attend such a sophisticated yet traditional and beautifully decorated event

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The really special moment of my wedding would have to be Rishi bawling when he saw me walk down the aisle. Although I think he was scared I got cold feet and ran away lol. I don’t get emotional easily.. in fact, I didn’t even get emotional during my vidai. But seeing Rishi cry like that as I walk towards him to marry him made me tear up and was a sight I’ll never forget.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Honestly- don’t stress the small stuff. If anything goes wrong (which it will) only you know about it and no one else. So just let go and enjoy the special moments of planning with your family rather than making them stressful.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Henna- Rozalin was the first vendor I picked as I saw her designs on Facebook and knew I had to have her. She is incredibly talented and will make any wish or design your reality.
Makeup- I picked Nadia second and made the best choice ever! Her skills are unreal and she made me feel and look so gorgeous on my special day.
Hair- I stumbled upon Kamauras Page on Ig by accident- but probably because it was meant to be. She is a such a kind-hearted soul. She listened to all my requests and did my hair so beautifully while keeping it natural. I could not thank her enough.

Cheers to the lovely couple! See you tomorrow with more inspiration!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Surprisingly, I had no idea what I wanted. I went to a designer in Houston who sells wedding outfits, tried on two outfits and immediately knew the second one was the one I wanted to wear for my reception.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Being able to work as a team with my husband to plan out our entire wedding weekend. Everything from the big, overarching items that needed to be done all the way to the small little details - we worked as a team like never before and it brought us closer together.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They all LOVED our food - not only the reception night but the Pithi/Sangeet night, too. We still get guests coming up to us praising the food that we had. My husband and I are huge foodies so that was our #1 item we worked extra hard to ensure was just perfect.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Honestly, I can't choose one special moment from that weekend - each day was so special and unique in its own way. I've watched our wedding highlight video at least a hundred times just to replay that entire weekend. The love, happiness, and support I felt were so strong and the video definitely reflects that.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
I'm so thankful we had a little less than a year to plan our wedding. I feel like I'd drive myself, my family and my husband, crazy if we had more time. The planning will never end. But at the end of the day, the wedding will come together and be the most beautiful weekend of your life.
