Chicago, IL Pakistani Wedding by Maha Studios

Lately, we’ve noticed that the most beautiful weddings have been coming from the Windy City, and this one is no exception! Mehwash & Sohail’s sugar-coated festivities at Pearl Banquets were a colorful feast for the eyes! From the very first photos of the sangeet, we knew this wedding would be filled with vibrancy and style! Maharani Mehwash was dressed in a confectioner’s dream, in candy floss pink, lemon drop yellow, and a bubbly green, with matching jewelry. And we loved the delicate sunset-hued florals adorning her plait, created by Mehwish Khalid. Maharaja Sohail was the perfect counterpart to his Maharani in green and purple, and the beautiful couple were positively bursting with pizzazz in all the photos by Maha Studios. There were so many sweet details in this couple’s wedding, such as the sunset-hued staging by Amer Design Studio and royal cake by The Baking Institute. We’ll share even more details about the couple’s ceremony at Venuti's Banquets and reception at Empress Banquets later today - Trust us, you won’t want to miss out on these events! While you wait, you can check out the full gallery with all their stunning photos!

Dallas, TX Indian Fusion Wedding by 1 Cinema Productions

We were blown away by the detail and beauty involved in this gorgeous reception held in the ballroom of The Westin Dallas Park Central. The planning experts at Shelley K. Events and floral and decorating team at Bebe's Decor put together magnificent decor that brought all of Maharani Stephy's visions to life, with lots of glitter, crystals, and shades of purple and gold. Stephy had dreamed of her wedding for years, but since she was in the middle of her Pharmacy residency during her engagement, she had to make sure she had an expert team she could rely on -Shelley K. Events and Bebe's Decor definitely rose to the occasion! Also very important to Stephy was that the Photographer and DJ were on point, and she looked no further than 1 Cinema Productions to capture the events, and DJ Riz to get the party started! The party definitely was a crazy fun time, and the dance floor was absolutely packed with guests rocking out to the incredible music and lighting installations by DJ Riz Entertainment. Beautiful Stephy again stunned in impeccable hair and makeup by JTorry and she slipped into a burgundy sari as she let loose on the dance floor! We have to mention a few amazing touches the couple included in the reception, including a gourmet chocolate fountain (we're drooling!) and a pyrotechnics display during their grand entrance, which was provided by Star S Productions. Too amazing! Maharanis, check out more incredible photos in the gallery below. Have a great weekend!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Tony and I have known each other for almost 3 years now. We are both from Dallas and have several close mutual friends. However, our lives didn’t cross paths through shaadi.com until 3 weeks before I moved to San Antonio to do a residency in the summer of 2014. Online dating is very nerve racking and I was really hesitant at first. But I soon found out that Tony went to church with some of my very good friends who only had wonderful things to say about him. That reassured me enough to go on a date with him. I have always been a hopeless romantic waiting for my Prince Charming to sweep me off my feet. Tony and I did not have a love at first sight kind of romance. Ours started out as a sweet friendship that grew into so much more as we spent more time together. Tony is such a thoughtful, loving and sincere guy who makes me smile even when he isn’t by my side. When I see how kind he is to me even on the days I annoy him and make him mad, I have no doubt that he is truly my Prince Charming. I am so amazed at how perfectly God has written our love story so far and I cannot wait to see what else he has in store for the both of us.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

I would be lying if I said that the proposal came as a complete surprise. I had been dreaming of my wedding and proposal for many years and had so many ideas of how it would happen. Even though I knew the proposal was happening, I was so completely swept away by how much thought Tony put into all the details and incorporated many things from my "ideas" into it. Tony had convinced me that we were going on a double date with some friends at a really nice restaurant. He came to pick me up with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. We first stopped to get appetizers at the restaurant we had our first date at. He then told me that our friends were running late and he took me to a park to kill time until dinner. As we walked through the park he started reminiscing about our relationship and how far we have come. Very soon we came upon a gazebo, that had a walkway filled with candles, balloons and flower petals. I am a huge fan of sprinkles cupcakes, and had mentioned to Tony about my vision to get proposed to at a sprinkles store. Sure enough there was a box of all my favorite sprinkles cupcakes waiting for me at the gazebo. After he put a ring on it, he led me back to our car to "go to dinner". But we soon arrived at another area in the park filled with all our family and friends. We ended the night with celebrating with all the people closest to our hearts.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

Like I said earlier, I am a hopeless romantic who had been planning my wedding since before I met Tony. I would spend hours on pinterest, maharaniweddings.com, or looking through facebook pictures of recently married friends to gather ideas for my future fabulous wedding. So, I already had a idea for the different vendors I was interested in. Because I was in the middle of my pharmacy residency, we decided to hire a wedding planner to help with the process. After interviewing several of them, we ended up with hiring Shelley Kurian with SKE. We were hesitant at first because she was on the higher end of our budget but she impressed us with her professionalism and personality. Hiring Shelley was one of the best decisions I made during my wedding planning. Her team is so organized, thorough and flexible. For me, photography and the DJ were the other two important vendors. I had been a huge fan of A&A productions since college and spent a lot of time watching their highlight videos on vimeo.com with my roommates. So obviously they were the first email I sent. I soon found out about their great sister company 1Cinema Productions. DJ Riz is well known throughout Texas (and even the USA) so we asked around about past clients' experiences and after hearing only good things, we booked them as well. I had a few friends who used JTorry for their wedding make-up and looked absolutely flawless of their big day so she was a pretty easy choice as well. We did price shop quite a bit for all our vendors since we were on a tight budget but we are happy we splurged on these vendors.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I had an idea of the style of wedding dress I wanted. I tried on over 10 dresses in this particular style and soon realized that it didn't look as good on me as I had envisioned. I took several of my bridesmaids (who are fashionistas) with me each time I went shopping so their opinions helped. The dress I bought was one of the dresses I tried on the very first day I went shopping. I tried on many dresses at many different stores but I kept coming back to this particular dress. After trying it on for the third time, I decided to say "yes to the dress!"

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Wedding planning was definitely stressful but now that it is all over I miss it so much. I loved seeing all the ideas I gathered in my mind and my pinterest board come alive. I LOVED spending time with all my bridesmaids and getting attention as the bride to be.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Tony and I wanted to do something different at our wedding. We searched long and hard before we came up with the idea of doing a sparkle fountain at the end of our dance floor. I had seen this idea on pinterest but did not know any other couples who had done it. Our guests LOVED it! It was a complete surprise for our guests and everyone raved about it to us.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

All our family members (including our parents), bridal party and close friends came together to perform a dance for us. Tony and I have watched that dance video over 50 times by now. It is such a special memory so see all of them come together to dance and celebrate us.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

My cake was absolutely pretty. I wanted a cake that was simple yet elegant. Delicious Cakes did a excellent job of incorporating our vision and making it a delicious reality. We had a different flavor for each of the 5 tiers so we had a cake buffet at the end of the reception.

We had a chocolate fountain during cocktail hour that was a huge hit. I am sad I didn't get to enjoy it myself but we got a lot of compliments on it.

We had the DJ ask people to Instagram pictures/videos from the night under our hashtag for a price for the best Instagram post. A lot of our guests participated we got lots of great pictures posted under our hashtag.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Try to enjoy the wedding day. You plan so much for so long and the day flies by in a blink of an eye. Delegate duties off to trustworthy individuals and sit back, relax and enjoy all the attention!

Dallas, TX Indian Fusion Wedding by 1 Cinema Productions

Here at Maharani Weddings we love a good bridal posse surrounding the stars of the show - the bride and groom! A good supporting cast provides such good energy to pump up the festivities! Stephy and Tony's wedding, captured by 1 Cinema Productions was positively bursting with excitement from start to finish. The lovely bride, Stephy, was surrounded by her bridesmaids throughout her pre-ceremony preparations as she adorned herself. She wore a chic, off-shoulder, white gown that fit her like a glove, and hair and makeup by JTorry that left her looking movie-star ready. We especially loved her sultry cat-eye and ruby red lips - so stunning! The couple's ceremony and reception took place at The Westin Dallas Park Central, with event planning and design by Shelley K. Events and floral and decor by Bebe's Decor. The lovely bride has this advice from all you brides-to-be: "Try to enjoy the wedding day. You plan so much for so long and the day flies by in a blink of an eye. Delegate duties off to trustworthy individuals and sit back, relax and enjoy all the attention!" Wise words! And stay tuned - We'll take you into Stephy & Tony's ridiculously fun reception extravaganza with music by the world-class DJ Riz Entertainment and a gourmet chocolate fountain! Austin, TX Indian Wedding by Joey T Photography

Nikita and Rohan's reception at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa was a royal, purple affair with candles displayed as far as the eye could see! Prashe Decor stayed true to Nikita's vision of an elegant, neutral affair, while highlighting some bold pops of color, such as the fuchsia and orange florals and violet uplighting. The K.I. Weddings team stepped in to once again make sure that every detail at the reception was executed to perfection! The newlyweds exuded sophistication during this event. Maharani Nikita looked graceful in a glittering, golden gown with hair and makeup by The Infinite Perfectionwhile Rohan rocked a James Bond-esque tuxedo. After an incredible reception program, including a showstopping skit and dance in which the bridesmaids and groomsmen retold the story of Nikita and Rohan's epic romance, guests feasted on a rich Indian meal by Bombay BistroDJ Prashant Poudyal created a customized Gobo for the couple that served as a beautiful focal piece while he played music that kept guests going wild on the dance floor! Tell us about your reception's decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

For our reception, Rohan wore a classic black tux and I wore a glittery gold gown. I wanted this event to be neutral and elegant. All our tables had matching champagne colored tablecloths, with our sweetheart table standing out with a glittery covering! All the tables had bright florals for pops of colors (purples, oranges, fushia) and our whole event was lit in a dim purple light. There were candles everywhere - from the head tables to the 10 ft wall of candles behind our DJ as a main focal point. Our monogram designed by our DJ really pulled the whole event together. The highlight in our eyes was the EPIC wedding performance put on by our bridesmaids and groomsmen. The dance/skit highlighted our 6 year relationship and it was extra special as our whole wedding party has seen our relationship grow throughout college and after (many of our friends were past roommates, siblings, and sorority/fraternity members). We danced the night away past 1am and I enjoyed seeing so many of my parent's friends having the time of their lives, most who have watched me grow up since I was born.

Every detail of this wedding seemed so thought out and perfect! We'll see you all tomorrow!

Austin, TX Indian Wedding by Joey T Photography

Good morning Maharanis! Today, we'll travel to Austin, Texas to relive the wedding weekend of the lovely Nikita and Rohan, captured by Joey T Photography. This vivacious couple share a Marathi background which they paid homage to during their special day. Wedding events took place at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa, and the couple was in good hands with their wedding planners at K.I. Weddings, since they are known to execute perfectly seamless events. Maharani Nikita and her mother bonded during a wedding shopping trip in India, and we love the ensembles they decided on! It was important to Nikita to choose a mustard, silk sari that is custom for Mahrati brides, and she was radiant in her traditional look! Her makeup by The Infinite Perfection and mehndi by Nisha was camera perfect, and her hair, also by The Infinite Perfection, was a gravity-defying, half up-bouffant that looked incredible under her Mahrati headpiece. Raja Rohan was also blown away by Nikita's elegance during their first look, and both teared up when they caught a glimpse of another. The couple met in college at 19 and after many years together, were so happy to start their journey together as husband and wife. Prashe Decor, a gold standard in the world of wedding decor, made Nikita's visions of a pink and coral fairytale ceremony come to life with their artistic floral and decor, and Epique Cinema captured the magical moments in their video footage. Join us later today to discuss the newlyweds' glamorous reception, and if you'd like to see the full gallery. Click below!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I met my husband Rohan when we were both 19 years old at the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em)! We happened to meet through a mutual friend and once we started to talk, found out that we were both Marathi. We spent some time together the summer of 2010 and by the time classes started, were officially dating. I knew Rohan was the one when he told his mom about me a few months into dating. Instead of feeling nervous at the possibility of meeting his parents, I felt excited for that next step in our relationship and what else was to come!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Just shy of our 5 year anniversary, Rohan and I took a July 4th trip to Destin, Florida. He was living in New Orleans at the time so we drove the 3-4 hours to Destin. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun at the beach. Rohan had made reservations at a beach restaurant but when we reached, he went in alone and told me that our table wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes and we should take a walk on the beach. Looking back, it's funny that he even decided to propose to me, because I was so cranky and hungry and wanted to talk to the hostess myself - poor Rohan had to make so many excuses so I would just take the hint and walk on the beach with him! Rohan had a photographer waiting when he got down on one knee and we have the most amazing memories and pictures from that moment. I was so stunned at the moment that Rohan still reminds me till today that the first words out of my mouth after he proposed were "Are you serious or joking...is this really happening?" Haha!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Both our families are Marathi so I knew that my bridal sari would be a traditional silk Marathi one (turmeric yellow with green glass bangles). I knew this was also very important to my mother so we definitely connected over shopping for my sari and choosing colors/patterns. I wanted a color that would pop with the turmeric yellow color as well as match my bridesmaids beautiful skin tones, so I chose fuchsia. It looked beautiful on every girl as well as against the yellow of my sari!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

When Rohan and I had our first look, I did not expect us to get emotional. The anticipation of being apart that whole morning all leading up to the wedding ceremony was making me so nervous. As I walked up to Rohan from behind, I started tearing up from relief that I could finally see him - he is the one who keeps me calm, cool and collected in all aspects of my life. Rohan also mentioned he was getting emotional seeing me decked up as a traditional bride. I think it's one of those memories that I did not anticipate, but smile when I think about every time.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

For our sangeet, Rohan and I wanted pops of color wherever you looked! We wanted the traditional Sangeet décor with bright shades of fushia, orange, and pink. We also wanted there to be personalized touches so we had 2 specialty drinks made. A "Niki-rita" (strawberry margarita) and a "Hur-Ro-cane" (a classic rum drink famous in New Orleans as Rohan had lived there for the past 2 years). Since there was going to be indian food the following day for wedding and reception, we also wanted to showcase classic "Tex Mex" food for all our visiting friends and family. We had the Hyatt resort prepare classic Tex Mex dishes (chips/salsa/queso, shrimp fajitas, spinach enchiladas, plus deconstructed tres leches and churros with nutella sauce for dessert!) We had amazing performances from 10 of his mom's best friends, my childhood group from Round Rock, and his 20 (!) childhood friends...some who have never danced before! This event made us feel SO loved that people put in all the time to give us such great performances!

Sounds so fun! We'll see you in a couple hours to discuss Nikita & Rohan's reception!
