Washington, DC Fusion Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

Maharani Priscilla knew that for her wedding reception she wanted to also celebrate her Indian heritage and halfway into the event slipped into a classical silk sari complete with a side swept Bengali bride. The Bethesda Marriott was outfitted with copious blooms serving as centerpieces created by Scentsational Florals who also decorated the spacious quarters. DJ Jatin brought out all the right lighting equipment to bequeath the venue with a purple, luminescent hue. Double downing on duties, this stellar DJ also ensured that the dance floor was lit! Before hitting the dance floor, guests had dinner catered by IndAroma and enjoyed modern bakery delectables like naan pizza and puff pastries stuffed with chicken tikka. The night ended with happy tummies, fun and dancing and honestly, what best way is there to end your special day? Head into the gallery where you can relive the wedding captured by Akbar Sayed Photography.

Washington, DC Fusion Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

It was at a Sam Smith concert that Priscilla knew that Finton was the one. After hearing the iconic singer croon out the words, “Stay with me”, the night ended with Finton planning his preparations for a surprise proposal. Right on the heels of his surprise proposal in Australia, wedding planning was in full force. GroupWedDC was brought on to plan and design Priscilla and Finton’s wedding journey with Akbar Sayed Photography capturing all the magical moments. The morning of the big event was reserved for the Christian wedding at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Hair and Makeup Unveiled brought their fluffiest powder brush to festoon the bride with a harmonic glow. The bride donned a strapless tulle A-line gown with soft all over lace and a plunging sweetheart neckline designed at Sophia Tolli. After the ceremony, the newly married couple were met with a barrage of bubbles from their loved ones. Akbar Sayed Photography led the wedding party to a secluded outdoor for a fun and festive photo shoot before heading to the big reception party. The gallery holds all the images specially created for you!

Dallas, TX Indian Wedding by 1 Cinema Productions

Welcome back to Prachi's royal Indian wedding affair at the Magnolia Dallas Park Cities Hotel. You know you hired the ultimate wedding planner when your guests proclaim how organized and timely your series of events flowed! Navi Kaur of K.I. Weddings made sure that everything went smoothly and did a superb job at that. For her final revel, the bride donned an over the top, champagne wedding gown that was fit for royalty. With an elegant updo and a dewy makeup glow festooned by Sarah Aasif, this bride was ready for her majestic affair. Speaking of royalty, Prashe Decor swung their magic wand transforming the spacious ballroom into a purple and gold haven. With specialities such as palak paneer and methi matar malai, the natural catering service to feed hungry guests had to be Maharaja Palace. After fueling up, guests couldn’t keep themselves off the dance floor with the gyrating beats of G2 on the turntables. The guests were treated to wedding cake from Nadine of ChezNadin as they celebrated into the wee hours of the night. 1 Cinema Productions proved to be a triple threat with ensuring that the live action was caught on film, provided the photo booth and snapped all the images you can find in the gallery.

Prachi spills more details on her event!

What did your guest particularly love about your Wedding?

I think the guests from out of country (India) were impressed by how timely and well organized it was! Our local guests were also pleasantly surprised by the punctuality! The fact that both of our families are very big on being on time and having a wedding planner had a big hand in it. The most compliments we got in the end were for how absolutely elegant the entire affair was.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Yes! The moment when during our first dance my husband (who is Gujarati and knows very little to no Hindi) surprised me by memorising all of the lyrics and sang them to me. He sang with so much passion and love that everyone noticed it and mentioned it afterwards!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Yes. A few things I will make sure my younger sister also does before her wedding day: Try on the wedding dress, wedding shoes and jewelry and walk around in it (even if it's only around the house) for some time so you can be sure your wedding dress isn't too heavy for your own body weight, your shoes don't kill your toes with a toe ring in it and that your earrings actually fit your ear piercings! Also, at the end of the day, no matter what goes wrong (because believe me, unexpected things happen) just remember that so many people came just for you, to shower you with love and blessings!

We hope your 2017 is coming off with a fab start! See you tomorrow!

Dallas, TX Indian Wedding by 1 Cinema Productions

For Maharani Prachi, she knew what love on first sight encompassed the minute she had laid her eyes on Shani. In the bride’s own words, “the rest was history.” Prachi knew that in order to have the wedding of her dreams she would have construct the ultimate dream team and with a stellar list of vendors, she most certainly achieved her vision. The bride’s pre-wedding ceremonies began with a colorful mehndi night with none other than Henna by Alpa gracing the bride and her guests with intricate henna designs. In just a couple of sleeps it was time for the bride to get ready for her big day with makeup artist Sarah Aasif by her side. Prachi’s wedding lengha was a multifaceted designer piece in shades of pink, yellow and gold. Donning an oversized nathni, this Princess was regal indeed. The wedding ceremony took place at the Magnolia Dallas Park Cities Hotel where Prashe Decor went above and beyond bathing the venue with ornamentation that epitomized sultry and class. Planning and design wouldn't be completed without the perfect wedding planner and Navi Kaur of K.I. Weddings proved to once again amaze the masses with her groundwork skills. We have royal affair waiting for you in the gallery captured by 1 Cinema Productions that you won’t want to miss! Also, Prachi herself has spilled all the details on planning her big day that you can find at the bottom of tfhis post!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

He was my orientation leader and I met him on my first day of medical school. He was standing in front of 250 students so comfortably telling jokes and making everyone laugh. Suddenly, I had a thought cross my mind, "I wonder what our story will be..." At the time, I was really shocked why I even had that thought. I mean, I hadn't even spoken to him yet! And 4 years later, here we are...married, and doing residency together - luckily in the same city, same program. I couldn't have asked for more.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

It was my parent's anniversary and our family had come to visit us from India. Shani had told me that his friends from his college days had come into town that day and wanted me to go to lunch with them. He arrived and of course I was still getting ready upstairs so Shani spent some time meeting my family from India, none of whom had a clue of what was to come either. Unexpectedly, there was a knock at the door and I ran to answer it only to be shocked by the sheriff standing in front of me. He asked who the car outside belonged to while pointing to Shani's car. I didn't say a word and then he proceeded to ask me if anyone named "Shani" was in the house. My heart sank. He pulled out a warrant from his pocket with Shani's name it. He told me a horrific story of a hit-and-run accident that ended in a fatality that Shani was involved in and asked to come inside. Just then, I slowly started to close the door and contemplated telling Shani to run out the back door, but it was too late. Shani was already behind me and the Sheriff had let himself in. The Sheriff proceeded to tell us that Shani was being arrested and then things start to become a blur. I got a reality check when my mom asked me again to go with Shani as the Sheriff was walking him out of the house. The moment I got outside, I looked up and all our close friends and Shani's family were outside holding up a "Will You Marry Me?" sign. I looked back at Shani and he was down on one knee holding a ring. The rest is history.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

We started with picking a venue and wedding planner at the same time. I found Jignasa Patel of Ki Weddings, met with her and liked what she had to offer especially considering my fiancé (at the time) was 7 hours away and I would be traveling a lot for rotations during the last year of my medical school. Arranging meetings and coordinating small details was much easier after getting a wedding planner, Navi Kaur who became our planner from Ki Weddings. I ended up getting my sangeet outfit from an account on instagram and my reception outfit from online! I coordinated details of it over facetime, many times it was in the middle of the night since the website was based out of India. It was a big risk and a little scary no doubt but I was very happy with the final products! For makeup, my friend referred me to Sarah Asif. I saw her work on instagram and was impressed by it. She was one of the first people I booked, almost 10 months in advance!

Decor: I wanted something elegant and simple so I went with white and gold for the wedding ceremony and added purple to it for the reception for an added touch of royalty.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I got my wedding dress in Chicago. I liked the design on a lehnga I saw but I knew I wanted it with a non-traditional color scheme. How the idea of yellow, coral and pink tones together came to me, I can't say! I was very happy with the final result.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Almost all of it was enjoyable because I got to spend a lot of quality time with my mom and sister during the process. Luckily my mom stayed home from work almost the whole year before the wedding to help me plan it and my sister is a master at time management and made time to go with me despite full time college and 2 internships! One of my favorite times was coming up with the father-daughter dance with my dad while my mom would play music for us. We had so many moments of uncontrollable laughter as I tried to teach my dad simple dance steps that he would keep getting wrong over and over (although he did it perfectly on the day of the reception since he was practicing even the morning of the wedding.

Coming right up is the wedding reception and with G2 on the dancefloor, this is one party you won’t soon forget!

Chicago, IL Indian Fusion Wedding by Pat Furey Photography

Welcome back to the Zhou B Art Center for the conclusion of this charming fusion Indian wedding! For the reception party, Virginia Wolff Inc. adorned the venue in lighted bulbs that hung from the ceiling of the ballroom while silver chairs glammed up the modern art room. Copious bouquets of fresh floral garnished the table tops and lighting from Art of Imagination bathed the room in an illuminated glow.  However, it was Maharani Teja who took center stage of the room in an open back, laced infused white bridal gown with minimal jewelry, signifying her artistic side. The couple opted for doughnuts from the Doughnut Vault and dished out the delectable treats in a homemade doughnut stand hand built by Maharaja Joe’s father! No event would be complete without the fusion of cuisine and LM Catering and India House stepped up to the plate to feed hungry guests. My heart just sings with joy as the couple opted not to provide favors but to give guests a gift in a very unique way. The couple donated to Rasmi, a free residential school for underprivileged girls in Davangere, India. Neatly placed on paisley infused gold plates, was an adorable photo of the girls with smiles as bright as the moon. What a tender dedication! The couple infused both of their backgrounds into this gorgeous celebration that was both personal and unique planned to perfection by Simply Elegant Group. Head into the gallery to divulge in this love story caught on camera by Pat Furey Photography and check out the inspiring words for brides to be from Maharani Teja down below!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Hire a planner if you can! You will not regret it! It makes narrowing down vendors and most importantly the day of the wedding so much less stressful. My planner was amazing and made sure that the day went smoothly. And when I had stressed out moments on the day of she even bought me champagne!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

We had our mehndi party at my parents house and set up tents in the back yard. It was such a fun coming together of friends and families and our artists were going the entire time. The weather also cooperated and we had a warm and sunny day. We opted not to do a cake, and instead got donuts from the Doughnut Vault. They are the most amazing donuts we have ever tasted. We had only a handful left over at the end of the night! My father-in-law and husband hand built our donut stand. It was a hit!

Inspirational indeed! Excuse me while I wipe down my tears! Head to Mexico for this cheery, sunny Indian wedding captured by Ocean Photo Studio. See  you tomorrow loves!
