Thursday is here, Maharanis, and so are we with another brand new feature wedding! This one comes from Edmond and our friends from Mir Anwar Studios were there to capture all the glam and glitter for us! Monica & Ricky decided to have a union that merged their backgrounds and faiths and the result was a gorgeous gala with all the style in the world. The couple was looking totally gorgeous wearing a mix of contemporary fashion and of course, the Hindu sensibilities we love so much. Ladies, don't forget to look to have a glimpse at Maharani Monica's stunning hair and makeup designs, truly an ode to style! So, ladies, stick around because ideas are flowing with today's gallery.
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
He added me to Facebook actually. He sent me the sweetest little message and we never stopped talking after that. We have a lot of mutual friends, and he's friends with my cousins, so we weren't complete strangers, we just had never met before! I knew he was the one when he gave me a James Avery ring that said: "God be with us together and apart" (he's from Houston, I'm from Oklahoma City).

We have a beautiful video documenting the moment, but here's the story. We were in Austin, TX and it was on a Saturday morning that we got up and went to brunch. After brunch was over, we were walking back to our car and he took my phone and stopped me at a car with a driver waiting outside. He kissed me goodbye and the driver drove me off and handed me a letter. Letter 1 told me that I was going to get a Mani/Pedi. Once I got there and got everything done, the receptionist hands me letter 2, which told me where to meet the driver. Once I got in the car, he hands me letter 3, which tells me I'll be dropped off at a hotel and which room I'd be in. I walk into the room and there were candles and rose petals everywhere. On the bed was a complete outfit, and everything I needed to get ready, including my favorite dessert- also, letter 4. Letter 4 told me what time to be ready and where I'd be going. I'm driven to a beautiful mansion on a cliff overlooking Lake Travis and when I step out of the car, I hear violins playing our song, and I start walking towards the balcony, and my future husband was standing there waiting for me. It doesn't just end there. After he proposed, our parents and siblings came outside to greet us! We then headed to have dinner with them and when we got there, all of my cousins and our friends were there waiting there ready to celebrate. IT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I had documents of pictures and descriptions for everything. My husband and I are both very organized people, so we made the best team when it came down to planning our wedding. We researched every vendor before deciding on them and we don't regret it. We loved every single person we worked with. They were all so amazing. It was a lot of hard work, but in the end, it was worth it.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My wedding dress was the very first one I tried on! I tried on quite a few afterward, just to say that I did, but I knew the first dress was the one!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Food/cake/drink tasting! Hands down the best part. It was delicious, stress-free and a great way to take a break from all the other craziness.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our reception and after-party. Everyone was just ready to celebrate and have fun and you could feel that in the room.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The moment that constantly replays in my mind was right after the ceremony, our coordinators rushed us into a private room so that we could have 10 min alone together to let everything sink in before we were in a sea of people again. I appreciated that so so much. It was such a necessary and beautiful moment that I got to share with just my husband.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We really cared about how much fun our guests were going to have, so everything was geared to making our day run smoothly so that everyone would be able to enjoy the day. We had a huge party bus for our bridal party, but we also included their significant others on that bus so that we could all enjoy those moments together. We had a few hotel rooms for our other friends to hang out in before the reception. The groomsmen had an amazing entrance to our reception that everyone definitely enjoyed. We played an interactive game at the reception and since Ricky went to UT and I went to OU, there was this big rivalry going throughout the evening, which was pretty fun. We also had an after-party in one of the conference rooms across from the reception hall where about 150 of our friends/family continued to celebrate, which was so much fun.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Google docs are your best friends. Organize everything you can think of in each tab. It'll make it easier for you, your fiance and your vendors to visualize and keep track of.
Stick for part two, more to come!
