How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Amit and I met on Tinder. I had been on Tinder on and off for about 3 years at that point and I never took that app seriously. When I redownloaded the app back in July of 2016 I was just out there to see my options and again never really "expected" anything to come out of the app but slowly I started seeing all my friends on Facebook and around me start to get engaged and married so I felt that slight social pressure. October of 2016 after my 26th birthday I told one of my friends that whoever my 100th match was, that was the one! Saying that I slowly started to become more picky about who I was swiping right for. I came across Amit's profile which said "I love Whiskey and Tacos" and immediately swiped right! I also noticed that Amit and I had 3 mutual friends on Facebook as that would be shown on your Tinder profile. The mutual friends were very very close family friends of ours whom I consider more like family than friends. Amit and I instantly matched! Me being the typical girl that I am, I wanted him to be the first one to reach out to me. A few days went by and I heard NOTHING from him and just got annoyed and frustrated. I was at a Friendsgiving dinner where one of my friends asked me if that guy reached out to me and I got more annoyed and said no! Little did I know that turning off my notifications for Tinder would backfire on me and there was a message from Amit in my inbox from earlier that day. We started talking on the app and I remember the first question; besides how are you, we both asked each other was: How do you know Jenna and Neil? (the mutual friends on facebook) I told Amit that they are family friends of mine but I treat them like my younger siblings. Amit then told me their dad is his first cousin and he is their uncle. Automatically thinking to myself that Amit is going to think that all of this is too weird I began to change the subject to football as it was a Sunday! Within 3 days of talking on the app, I felt that instant connection with him and gave him my number and told him I was deleting Tinder. Best decision ever! We went on our first date where we found out we had crossed paths several times and we never even noticed each other! Dinner dates led to weekends together where we both just enjoyed being with each other! I realized that Amit was the one May of 2017 which was 5 months after we had made our relationship official. He had asked me a question that led me to start crying and instead of judging me and the entire situation he gave me a tissue and just hugged me and kept me close to him. From that day onwards, I knew he was the one and how selfless he was and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Amit and I started officially dating January of 2017 and since March of 2017, all I heard from him was how much he wanted to go to Italy. We had decided that every year we were going to alternate between who gets to decide where we are going to go on vacation. 2017 we went to Disney World which was my choice and then when 2018 came around we started talking about where we wanted to go that year and he said Italy. We did all our research and booked our tickets! As we kept getting closer to the trip a few people asked me "oh what if Amit proposes to you in Italy" and I honestly thought nothing of it because he had been saying he wanted to go to Italy since we started dating! The week of the trip I went to go get my nails done and my dad looked at my nails and asked me why I got such a dull color and I told him because I liked the design and he was like well your nails look bad and your hands are going to be the center of attention this whole trip and I just laughed it off and told him he's crazy! Amit and I left for our trip and boy the journey to Rome was one hell of a journey! We had a layover in Munich for 5 hours which turned into almost 8 hours as the connecting flight was delayed going to Rome. We finally got to Rome and then our bags were delayed by an hour! So at this point, we are both just hungry and tired. We finally get to our hotel around 4 pm Italy time which is 10 am New Jersey time. We had been traveling for 20 hours! We quickly showered and started walking to the main area to go to eat. I had told Amit that I am too tired to get ready so I am just going to wear this old dress I had and no makeup. I bought new shoes for the trip and never wore them in and my feet were in PAIN! It started getting too hard for me to walk so we just went into the first restaurant we saw (that was the best meal we had that whole trip). He said he wanted to go to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain since they were close by and I said ok fine. We started walking again and I was getting more and more miserable where Amit was like let's stop and buy you new shoes and I said no let's keep going! We made it to the Spanish Steps but the way we walked we were already on the top of the stairs. We were overlooking the sunset where it was just him and I and I told him that I loved him and he said I love you too and I was like nope I love you more and he was like no I love you more and I said no and he said "wanna bet" and he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever with him! Amit's plan was to carry the ring with him throughout the trip and he was going to propose when he felt like the moment was right and that moment happened the first night while I looked and felt like a hot mess but after that moment I felt like the luckiest girl in the world to be able to spend the rest of my life with my Mr. Perfect! I was completely thrown off with everything because Amit had mentioned going to Italy since the beginning of us dating and I just thought this was a regular vacation and plus we never talked about rings! Any time a ring showed up on Facebook or Instagram or TV, I would always talk about what I liked and what I didn't like, and that's just what us girls do! Little did I know, he was taking notes on his phone about what I liked and somehow managed to get my ring size without me even knowing. Once he got the ring he met with my parents and asked for permission without me knowing as well. This proposal PERFECT!! It was a very low key proposal and I had no idea about it so it came to me as a complete surprise which I loved! That trip eventually became a celebratory trip!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
With the venue, we knew we wanted a venue that was a hotel as well since we knew how convenient it would be to party and then go right upstairs to the rooms and clock out! We did shop around to some of the more popular wedding hotels in NJ like Princeton Hyatt, Hanover Marriott. We decided to reach out to Bridgewater Marriott as we had never heard of that venue and we knew for a fact that nobody in our friends or family circle used this venue. We instantly fell in love with the venue and wanted to sign right away! The location, the staff and the way the entire hotel looked stole our hearts! We signed and now we can say yes, out of our friends and family circle we were the first ones to do our event at this location!

Hair and Makeup were very easy for me. I came across my makeup artists profile on Instagram back in early 2018 and saw that her style was a very natural style and knew that whenever I was getting married I wanted her to be my makeup artist! I got super lucky she was available and it all worked out perfectly! The decor was a hard one! Our decor company showed us the newest design that they got and we fell in love with that design. Sounds easy right? NOPE!!! Our venue had set rules about what we can and can't use! Because of that, we had to change our design up. We had to modify the companies designs to fit our needs and meet the venue requirements as well. So up until 2 weeks before we were going back and forth on what we wanted and in the end our decor company went above and beyond for us and made everything look PERFECT for our special day!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Amit and I had a particular vision behind our wedding outfits. It's funny normally brides and grooms pick their own outfits and based on that they pick their bridal party outfits. We were opposite, we designed the bridal party outfits first and then picked our own. Since we had a particular color scheme in mind we set out looking for that color and that color only! We both wanted our wedding outfits to be white, pink and gold. We went to India to do our shopping and our primary focus was getting my reception outfit. We got a little tired of looking at reception outfits and went into Shaymal and Bumikha and I walked into that store not knowing who they were and that they were such big designers in India. I fell in love with the first pink outfit that I saw and HAD to try it on. When I had it on it looked EVEN better than how it looked on the hanger. I called my parents who were in NJ at it was 4 am to show them the outfit. They had tears in their eyes and that's when we knew this is a "say yes to the dress" moment!!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part for me was paying attention to all the minor details. I am a very detailed organized person and I had all the minor details down to a T! The name cards matched the bar signs which matched the table number signs which matched the note we had in each welcome bag which matched the sticker that was on the box inside the welcome bag. Everything had to be perfect for our special day! I had a vision for our reception and wanted everything to be purple and gold and we made it happen. From the decor to the lighting to the cake to the lights on the dance floor. The details and efforts that even went into putting together the welcome bag where we didn't just put some snacks for the sake of putting snacks, we thought long and hard about what to put. We put two bottles of water, a pack of veggie straws or veggie chips (since they are both dairy-free and gluten-free we kept peoples allergies and diet restrictions in mind) we put in a few pieces of chocolates, a pack of breakfast biscuits along with 2 packs of premade ginger teas as Indians love their ginger teas! Amit and I also made special welcome bags for our bridal party which consisted of Advil, shoe polish brush, shoehorn, gum, safety pins, bobby pins, Gatorade and a small bottle of alcohol. So I loved paying close attention to making the smaller details for the wedding look perfect! I knew for the bigger picture I trusted all my vendors so I know I was in good hands with them!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests really liked the priest that we had for our ceremony. Not only did he explain everything in English for those who didn't understand but his way of doing the ceremony was quick and precise. A lot of people that liked how he ended off our wedding ceremony which was: this is not yours and my life, this is our life.. this is not yours or my money this is our money... we are two souls becoming one.. and just the way he said it, it touched everyone and people still almost 3 months later mention how great our priest was and how inspirational he was!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Honestly, the entire wedding just flew by but two moments that keep replaying in my head were when Amit and I did our first look. I remember walking up to the spot where he was standing and knowing that when I tap him on his shoulder this is gonna be my HUSBAND turning around!! I had that same feeling while walking up to the mandap. I had all eyes on me walking in but I was like a horse my eyes were just focused on the mandap and how my groom was sitting there waiting for us to start our "forever" journey! Those are the two moments that keep replaying in my mind!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Future Brides please do yourself a huge favor and get an event coordinator. Our wedding would not have been possible without our event coordinators. When we initially started our wedding planning process we thought to ourselves we can pull this off without an event coordinator since I love planning and I am very detail organized! I realized 6 months before our wedding that I was wrong and that by trying to do everything yourselves and putting that pressure on yourself is only going to make you go crazy! We began to shop around for event coordinators and as soon as we found one that we liked we signed with them and I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. The morning of the minute I saw our lead coordinator I felt all the stress just leave my body! Our event coordinators made sure everything was running as per the schedule and that we got everything our vendors promised us as per our contracts. On your big day trust me you have no time to run around to make sure everything runs on time and you are getting what was promised per vendor, you gotta bring in the professionals. Its been almost 3 months since our wedding and people still talk about how amazing our coordinators were and that hands down was the best decision we made for the wedding!! So please please please do yourself a huge favor and get yourself an event coordinator!!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
A week after turning 22, I met my husband at a Lower East Side Bar called "The DL" while out with some girlfriends. My friend thought his friend was cute and while we tried to initiate the interaction between our friends, we naturally started talking. I like to believe I started up the conversation with him first ;) What started off as an interaction just to get our friends to meet turned into us becoming fast friends. He was working crazy hours and I was juggling grad school and an internship. We still managed to hang out and spend time together, no matter how busy we were. We had known each other for just about a week - but were still making every effort to see each other. When we were together, it felt natural and like we've known each other for way longer than just a few weeks. I could truly be myself with him, and while he was just a stranger at that time, it felt like he had been a part of my life forever. That's really the moment I knew that this was the guy for me! We were without doubt our own individuals and enjoyed each other for who we were.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Preetam and I love travel, food, wine, and having a good time. About 4 years ago, we visited South Beach for the first time and for years after that, we made an effort to visit once a year. We loved the vibe, food, culture, nightlife, beach, and just the chill and relaxed environment. We have made some incredible memories in Miami and it's always been our favorite city to visit.

Our proposal was perfect. On Memorial Day weekend in 2018, we visited South Beach for the long weekend. He proposed to me in South Beach, with just the two of us present! It was perfect and romantic - I always wanted a private proposal with just the two of us and he made that happen in the perfect setting. We immediately called our families first to share the big news (which they weren't surprised about at all!) and then celebrated with some delicious food and wine. We were so excited to finally be engaged and wanted to share the news with everyone but actually decided that we wanted to enjoy this special time for just a few days longer with just the two of us! We knew that the minute we told our friends, this would kickstart wedding talk and we just wanted to bask in the happiness of being engage. So we chose not to share this with any of our friends - it was really hard to keep this a secret from my close girlfriends who totally were expecting a proposal to happen on the trip!

The proposal encompassed all of our favorite things in one - Miami, the beach, food, wine, and the most beautiful ring I had ever seen.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew that I always wanted to wear a traditional red lehenga for my traditional Sikh ceremony. I chose to go to India with my parents for my wedding shopping - I wanted to stay true to the Punjabi and Sikh wedding traditions so I was big on getting my wedding dress from Punjab. I'm so thankful for my family in India who took all my dream outfit photos, and sought out designers in Punjabi who could craft my dream wedding outfit for me!

As much as I wanted the traditional Punjabi wedding dress for my Sikh ceremony, I wanted my reception look to embody my love for old school Hollywood vibes. I've always loved the modern yet elegant vibes of Berta bridal dresses and visited their Soho boutique to find my dream white dress. I landed on a backless, white dress with intricate lace and sequin details. It was a contrast from my morning look and I loved that!

I wanted both of my looks to stay true to my love for the Punjabi heritage and the old school Hollywood vibe. They were contrasting looks and it makes me so happy I was able to make my dream wedding looks come true!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Wedding planning is stressful and time consuming but what made it all worth it was the extra time we got to spend time with each other as a couple. I had dreamed about my wedding day for as long as I can remember and I knew I wanted to be involved in every detail of the planning. But, it was also so great how involved Preetam was and how we really became partners throughout the planning. During vendor calls, I would ask questions while he would write notes. During vendor meetings, we tag teamed and asked questions together. We finalized the menu, decor, party favors, really everything - together. Both of our careers are demanding and often take up our weekdays and sometimes our weekends. Wedding planning allowed us to spend some additional time together and it really helped us to develop an even stronger partnership. We leaned on each other for support during the stressful parts and celebrated with each other as planning decisions were finalized and our wedding date grew near.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the experience!!! Wedding planning is stressful, time consuming and at most times, could feel like a full-time job. But, it is also a really special time in your life. Every girl at some point has dreamt about their wedding day and marrying their soulmate. And the time has finally come for you to see all your dreams come to fruition. Trust your judgment, go with your gut, and enjoy the experience to its fullest. Only YOU know what will make your wedding day special so trust that.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
The goal for our wedding was to incorporate all of our favorite things in one and share our love and happiness with our friends and family. Every detail we picked kept this goal in mind.

For my mehndi, I knew that I wanted to incorporate the NYC skyline into my design - Monita from Henna for All NY made that happen for me and made all my mehndi dreams come true.

For my mehndi/sangeet/jaago, we wanted it to be a big fun Punjabi welcome party and we are so thankful for our families for trusting that and allowing us to make it a carefree and fun summer event.

The Swan Club made all my reception dreams come true - it really is hard to find a reception space with a beautiful outdoor area and Swan Club really was that!!! I am SO happy we were able to find Swan Club and have our summer wedding there - the grounds of the space are incredible and it made our wedding reception so special.

Anyone who knows me knows I have a huge sweet tooth, and a crazy obsession with cookies. I am so thankful for my favorite cookie bakery in NYC, Chip NYC, for catering my wedding reception and giving my guests the chance to experience my favorite dessert of all time.

My makeup and hair artists were just perfect. I had a vision of what I wanted for my different looks but Preeti, Fiza, and Naina really helped me to perfect my wishes and I really trusted them to do what they do best!! They made me feel like a princess and my desire to be a Punjabi bride in the morning and an old Hollywood actress in the evening came to light because of their amazing creativity.

More amazing weddings, every day!

Long Island, NY Sikh Wedding by Glenmar Studio

Happy Wednesday, ladies! Today, we set sail to Long Island in New York to witness all the lavishness that went on for Khushboo & Preetam's grand Sikh wedding! You ladies know that we love Sikh weddings for so many reasons. One of those reasons is how incredibly solemn and elegant they are. It is truly a spiritual experience, topped with the style that only our friends from India are able to deliver. The gorgeous bride came out looking out of this world for her day of magic, as we will see. The traditional ruby and gold dolled her up and she couldn't have been more stunning! Lucky for everyone, the talent from Glenmar Studio was there capturing every detail for us to daydream in today's gallery! Don't forget to take a look at the amazing job done by one of my favourite florists. Stylish Events, of course, delivered fully and came up with decor straight out from a fairy tale. So romantic! So, ladies, you can't miss this stunning gala! See you by the aisle!
