Franklin Township, NJ South Asian Wedding by JF Photography Studio

Our lovebirds are finally married. All the time and care invested for that moment pays off and now they are bonded as one soul, ready to start their new life as husband and wife. Now, it is time for an inspiring photo shoot and to party; and believe me, no one knows how to throw a party better than our lovebirds. The Marigold in New Jersey also housed the reception, and as always, looked absolutely amazing. The beautiful Maharani wore a silver lengha and the elegant groom rocked a champagne sherwani, both of their styles were definitely what you would expect out of a grand wedding like this. The lovely photo shoot was held outdoors portraying the couple looking madly in love with each other at The Marigold's iconic gazebo. So here it is, the grand reception of Archana & Kailash beautifully captured by JF Photography Studio in our gallery

San Diego, CA Fusion Indian Wedding by Peter Nguyen Studio

Welcome back, Maharanis! Valentine's Day is right around the corner and we can't stop sharing with you these beautiful weddings. The amazing color palette of Pavitraa & Matt's ceremony and reception was truly one of a kind. They mixed various tones of light blue, grey and light purple. It definitely set the stage for a glittering event where our couple swore eternal love with a ton of shimmer. The talented crew from Kismet Events and NFP Events worked their magic and crafted the floral and decor of the entire experience. Uniquely elegant as you will see! During the reception, our well-known pals from Mantra Indian Cuisine brought their A-Game and pampered the guests with the delicious treats that only a true Maharani could have approved! This whole affair is too much for our senses! Can't get enough of this glam bride and her gown? Head on over to the gallery for more, captured by Peter Nguyen Studio.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Matt and I met on Match.com. We spent a few weeks texting back and forth and decided to meet for happy hour. I think we both knew there was great chemistry as we spent 4.5 hours talking about your life, jobs, families, and everything in between. Matt was my first and the only date on Match.com so I’m fortunate that online dating brought this perfect man to me.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I’ve never wanted a big over-the-top proposal. All I ever wanted is to have family around when it happened. Well, I never told Matt this but somehow he knew (I told you, he’s perfect!). We were celebrating Matt’s birthday that weekend and as a surprise to me, he called my sister and brother in law to visit us. The night before his birthday party, the four of us went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale, Sassi. Once we were all seated, Matt told me that he had another surprise for me. After seeing my sister and brother in law, I, of course, said: “are mom and dad here too?” (As I looked around the restaurant). By that time Matt was on one knee and asking me to marry him. It was the perfect most unforgettable evening. Matt’s birthday party ended up turning into more of an engagement party for us but it was still a spectacular weekend!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
From the onset of planning the wedding, I wanted to make sure I was incorporating both cultures (Indian and western) and both religions (Hindu and Christian).

Being born and raised in San Diego, I always wanted to get married by the water. Luckily, Matt loves San Diego so it was an easy choice. My dad recommended the Hilton Bayfront and it was love at first sight. The venue was perfect for the events that we wanted to incorporate and the staff was great to work with. I wanted the decor to be simple but elegant - shades of blue and some pops of blush. My bridesmaids wore beautiful shalwar kameezes and the groomsmen sported dapper tuxedos.

After my dad walked me down the aisle, the Hindu Pandit led us through portions of the Hindu wedding during the first part of our ceremony - which included a Ganesh puja, garland exchange, and saptapadi. We then transitioned to the Christian part of the ceremony, officiated by our friend Brett, - which included a Bible reading, vow exchange, and ring exchange. I wanted to have a fusion of the ceremonies rather than having multiple ceremonies.

Being on time is something that me and my family take pretty seriously and I had an amazing wedding planner who kept us on schedule the entire day. I think by the time the reception started, we were only 20 minutes behind!!

We are so grateful to my parents who gave us such a beautiful and memorable wedding day and we can’t thank them enough for it.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I worked with one of my family friends to design my wedding dress. My vision to fuse both cultures came to reality as my dress was a beautiful silk ivory gown with Indian embroidery and a dupatta that mimic’d a Veil. Continuing with the blue color scheme, I chose navy blue and gold embroidery and work. I wore the same gown for the reception party but removed the dupatta so I would be more comfortable dancing the night away.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the process was seeing it all come together in the last week - it was so rewarding. Wedding planning IS stressful but it’s all worth it in the end. We had family and friends fly-in a few days early to spend time on any last minute planning and to just celebrate our big day. My favorite part was knowing that the work we had all put into this big day was all coming together!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
This is a hard one - there are so many special moments from that day! Prior to our wedding, one of our friends told us to “remember to take a moment, just the two of you, to soak it all in.” During the cocktail hour when our guests were finding their tables for dinner, Matt and I were sitting in another room. We had about 10 minutes to ourselves for the first time that day before we made our grand entrance as husband and wife. We talked about how grateful we were that everyone in the ballroom next door was here for us and to celebrate our love. It’s not every day you get to have all your special and loved ones in one room. It was also an opportunity for us to soak in the fact that we had just gotten married and that it was truly one of the happiest days of our life (I get a huge smile on my face thinking about those ten special minutes).

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We could talk on and on about this day because it was one of the best days of our lives. We still feel like it was all a dream and the best dream, at that. We’re so thankful to our wonderful and accommodating vendors who made this day so special and customized for us.

Amazing wasn't it? More to come, tomorrow.

Baltimore, MD Sikh Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

I am totally battling the winter blues, so I am so elated to share the heartwarming moments of Maharani Alisha and Tj's charming Indian wedding. For their grand finale, the bride and groom kicked up the party switch. Alisha's reception lengha was a dazzling designer piece that was overflowing with a silk-organza skirt. Event Envy transformed the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport for the reception with a royal vibe theme complete with all shimmer the room could handle. At the core, the family was the evident theme. "The most enjoyable part of the planning process was having our family and friends involved. Although TJ and I were able to do a lot of things ourselves, we had a lot of help from family and friends that helped make the process way smoother. I think our guests like the food the most. We catered from Bollywood Bistro in Virginia!" I have the outpouring of love in the gallery - so take a stroll down memory lane with Akbar Sayed Photography

Baltimore, MD Sikh Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

I am a firm believer that just like your beloved romance, your wedding day style should be just as epic! Just ask Maharani Alisha who ensured that her Sikh Indian wedding incorporated all the personal elements that personified her celebration to Tj. It takes a special Indian wedding photographer to capture the bride in her element and Akbar Sayed Photography perfected every angle of Alisha. The couple honored their Sikh upbringing at the Guru Nanak Foundation of America. Alisha channeled the appearance of a Rajasthani bride with a shiny matha patti and gleaming nath in her nose. Hair was kept neat in an ebullient bun decorated with shiny jewels. The entire celebration was joyous from beginning to end and was truly a pleasure to peruse. We head to the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport for the reception soon with Bollywood Bistro, but, in the meantime, take a stroll through our gallery, Maharanis!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met TJ through friends. I knew he was the one when he would always make himself available to me and listened and remembered everything I said to him.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
TJ had told me that he wanted me to take a vacation a couple of days for 5 months. He said he was going to propose but didn't tell me which month. The first month he told me to get my nails done and we just did dinner. The second month, he told me to get my nails done and I refused to. He told me to go in the basement and look behind the couch for a box. It was a dress and he told me to wear it. He said he would come to pick me up in about an hour and we would go somewhere. He drove me to our favorite winery. There was a table set up with wine, pictures of us, and food. I didn't think anything of it because I thought it was just another month and part of his plan to throw me off. He made small talk for as long as he could then proposed there!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning our wedding started off with picking out the venue and date together. We searched the Baltimore area until we got the deal we wanted with the ideal date which was July at the Hilton BWI.

Venue: Karin took care of us really well and made sure we had the best experience at her hotel. She was responsive and worked with what we wanted. Even after the wedding, she called to make sure everything went according to plan and addressed the things that did not. We were very happy with our venue experience.

Hair & Makeup was done by Makeup by Dina: Overall they did a great job. Sana is quick and amazing at hair.

Outfits: All my outfits came from New Jersey because we did not have time to go to India. I got most of what I envisioned. I had trouble finding a wedding ceremony outfit but was able to customize it to my liking.

Decor: Event Envy is amazing. Amina went above and beyond our expectations. I had a vision and she made it come to life!

Overall, our wedding planning experience was hectic but the week of, it was very smooth. My husband and I planned well to make sure that everyone had a great time and we discussed how most issues were going to be solved the day of the wedding if it were to come up.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I went to New Jersey to get my outfit. I selected my bridal lengha by trying on many of them. At first, I wanted gold or light pink, but both colors made me look washed out and it did not look bridal to me so I went with the traditional red. After I picked the color, I found a lengha I liked and customized it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was having our family and friends involved. Although TJ and I were able to do a lot of things ourselves, we had a lot of help from family and friends that helped make the process way smoother.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think our guests like the food the most. We catered from Bollywood Bistro in Virginia. They also liked that during the reception, we did not have a drawn-out program. It was short and the dancing started right away so people were not stuck in their seats for over an hour. I also think people liked that everything was on time. There were very minimal delays if any.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One special moment that replays in my mind is when my dad gave me the palla indicating that we were married.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The reception backdrop- we were very happy with and that is what we envisioned

The style of the reception was supposed to be elegant purple and gold. We had 2 kids tables so the kids would not get bored. We had a photo booth which everyone loved. The dance was done by both of our siblings and cousins which was a mix of Indian and English music. Instead of doing favors. we donated to a Children's Village in India.

For the Sangeet, the dance was done by our friends and me. The Sangeet was colorful and traditional. There was singing by the ladies and Jagoo. The food was "street" food from Bollywood Bistro. We had a Paanwala which made us 3-4 different types of paans.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don't focus on little stuff. It only gets frustrating! Don't pack every day with activities all day. Spread it out if possible, it makes it enjoyable for you and your family and friends. Enjoy the week of the wedding! Most brides are engrossed in things that cannot be changed and then it gets frustrating. Go with the flow because all the planning is now done, no use in dwelling. You planned for months, now its time to enjoy it!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi lady, Rehma, was very sweet and fast. It took her about 3 hours to do full arms and legs and I loved it!

Our DJ was good too, DJ Solace. It was a fusion wedding because some of my family are Trinidadian and TJ's family is Punjabi. We gave him a list of Trinidadian music and told him to mix it in with the Punjabi and Bollywood music and he did an awesome job!

We wanted a simple cake with flowers and got just that from Touche Touchet in Columbia, MD.

See you in a twinkle!
