How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Riyaz at work back in 2014 when he joined. At first, we began talking casually at work and randomly on social media. Rumors at work began to escalate that Riyaz was interested in my co-worker and wanted to ask her out. I left work shortly after to get back to school full time and we lost contact. After 3 years, Riyaz messaged me randomly to see how things were at my end. We started talking again and he cleared the misunderstanding about asking my co-worker out. He was interested me instead but was hesitant to let me know. After talking for months, we started dating and that's when I knew he was the "one." He was so generous to my mom and instantly connected with my family. I was introduced to his family and his and I became really good friends. Everything was so smooth and seemed perfect.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We met often at "I love you a latte" for college work or just to hangout. One day he calls me randomly when I was in class to meet him for coffee. He never calls me or texts me when I am in class. I went to see him after my class and we had coffee together. Shortly after, we went out for lunch at Bob Steak House and that’s where he proposed. We had our lunch and spend rest of the day together.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Riyaz and I wanted to get married in summer but were not sure about the dates. After switching between end of July to beginning of August, we decided to go for mid-July. Since summer usually are busy with weddings, we knew that we had to start early and reach out to all the vendors that we ever wanted for our wedding. Thanks to amazing family for helping us out in planning and organizing. We divided tasks to everyone in our families but ended up deciding what we liked and imagined.

Riyaz is a fan of PhotoKumar and I heard great things about Wedding Decor by Faiza for our wedding decorations so we decided to reach them and finalize it. Next, we focused on FOOD. Yes, believe it or not it’s very important. lol Afterwards, we focused on the details. I absolutely loved Ghalia's makeup and I have been following her for a while. So, I reached out to her and luckily the dates were available. I also loved Fiyona's mehndi and by luck she was also available.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had no idea what color I wanted for my wedding outfit but I definitely didn't wanted red. When I went to Pakistan with my family to shop for wedding outfits, I tried out many outfits with different color options but nothing came satisfactory. And then my designer, Salma Dawood said why don't have something pink and peachesh. It's not too common and also colors like this are preferred these days. When she showed me the color, I felt in love and decided to go for that. I picked my wedding dress embroidery from three different outfits. The final piece came out amazing and just as I imagined. My Nikkah sari from Panache by Sharmeen was amazing. I didn't imagine my Nikkah Sari to be White. Everyone wears white and I wanted to wear something unique with unique color combination. As soon as I saw this sari, I couldn't stop myself from purchasing it. Riyaz also ended up buying his Sherwani from Sharmeen.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I absolutely loved planning the little details of the wedding. My niece and nephews were so excited to dress up and dance for their Ani's wedding. I enjoyed planning little things for pithi and Sangeet with my mom and bhabi. I also enjoyed rehearsing on all the performances Riyaz and I planned. We selected songs, rehearsed on it and performed at our Sangeet and Reception.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guest really enjoyed the ambiance of the reception day. Since we had Tabla and Sitar players at our wedding, it made it very special for guests to enjoy something different. The cake by Sally Bakes me Pretty, made amazing Tres Leche and Nutella cake. Very satisfactory to our taste buds.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The special moment that replays in my mind is the video Riyaz and I made for our families to express our feelings. Riyaz and My father passed away years ago and we wanted to remember them and appreciate them on our special day. The videos we made not only remembered our fathers but also express our love and appreciation for our families. My mom and my brothers cried after watching the video and it also put me to tears also

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We decorated our house full of lights and flowers. Some days after the planning and decorating we would drop everything, put the music on, and just dance.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Just be relax. I know weddings can be really stressful but just relax. Plan a head of time, whether it’s a wedding season or not but just plan a head of time. Planning ahead will give you peace of mind that your vendors have the dates locked.

Another advice to enjoy your day. Sometimes, we get so carried away with the timings and details that we don't even enjoy our own day. It’s your day and you planned it for a while, so Just enjoy it and let everything happen on its own.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I am mehandi lover and very picky when it comes to my Bridal Mehandi. I loved Fiyona's work and she designed it the way I imaged it. I was not too picky about my jewelry but Tilak Jewelers had the perfect piece to compliment my Nikkah Sari.

Riyaz and I wanted a reception venue that is closer to our place. We loved the venue at Hilton Dallas/Plano Granite Park, so we decided to go with that.

I loved the way our wedding turned out. Everything happened the way we planned out and it would've never been possible without the help and support from our families.

That is all for today, ladies. But don't forget to join us tomorrow for more!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Fahim at my cousin's (his best friend) birthday party. We became really good friends since were both sarcastic and fun and before we knew it, we started dating.

I knew he was "the one" because of how thoughtful he was towards not just me but my family. My father passed away in 2017, and he was and continues to be a rock that holds my family together. He is extremely fun and can literally talk to anyone!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Fahim and I dated for 4 and a half years before he proposed on December 23, 2020.

Fahim told me that he was taking me to take Christmas pictures in our Looney Tunes sweaters to send out to our friends and family. He took me to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, which we both loved visiting because of how calm the environment is. He took me to the gazebo and proposed! My friends and family were hidden behind. They came out and surprised me! It was the best Christmas present!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Fahim and I planned our wedding with the help of our amazing friends, family, and bridal party. We started by shopping for venues and played around with a few dates. After about a month, we decided to get married in January 2020 and finalized the date shortly after.

Next, we started looking for photo, video, and decor. We heard about Blink Films and Images from Houston and went to visit their office. We realized that we could get all our needs taken care of with them. The photo and video process was seamless. The Blink Team was there early and prepared for all of our events and very professional. When it came to decor, we didn't have a theme in mind to be honest. My lengha was maroon and fahim's outfit was pink (the accent color to my lengha), so I had no clue what I wanted! I trusted AV at Blink with the colors and design of my reception and was not disappointed with the product! I still remember walking into the venue when it was fully decorated in awe because of how beautiful everything looked! They are wonderful and exceptional at what they do!

In terms of hair and makeup, my sisters always raved about Jenny Torry and how amazing her brides look! I did a bridal trial with her, and decided shortly after that she was the one I was going with! She did an incredible job!

When it came to cake, we had tasted a delicious cake at my coworker's wedding that we absolutely LOVED. We found out that we could customize the cake and the flavors were so yummy! Cake Daddy exceeded our expectations and gave us a phenomenal product!

I went to India with my mom and sisters to shop for my wedding weekend outfits in the summer of 2019. We ended up picking all of our outfits within 2 weeks!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
For my nikkah, I did not want to go with the traditional light sari that everyone wears. I am just not a sari gal! I decided to go with a champagne colored long gown instead with a dupatta on my head.

When it came to my reception lengha, this one took me by complete surprise. Since I was traveling to India, I had a very open mind about my outfit, but I definitely knew i wanted a navy/dark blue outfit. When I started trying on lenghas that were blue, my family and I soon realized the "pop" wasn't there. The salesman told me to try on a red lengha to "humor him" and we all turned out loving the color! I soon realized why wedding lenghas are red! We went with a velvet maroon lengha, which I absolutely loved!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Overall as most brides know, the planning process is incredibly STRESSFUL. I think for me, it was very very important to take breaks and learn to enjoy the process! Once the big things were decided, putting together the little details was definitely my favorite part of the process. Even though sometimes details don't seem that important, it makes an astronomical difference on the day of when you see everything come together!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I feel like most of our guests absolutely LOVED our decor and how everything fit together so well! We also tried to keep things on schedule and had fun activities planned for our guests for each event we threw.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Yes. My sisters put together a slideshow to honor my father during the reception, which put me to tears, but it was incredible. It made me feel like he was there with me and was smiling from above.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Our family and friends came together to create a skit for our reception, which was exceptional! We also incorporated events such as a bouquet toss and a non-traditional first dance. The reception also encompassed plenty of time for dancing, food, and fun and ended with sparklers outside!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
1. BREATHE. Indian wedding planning can be daunting and trust me, you will be okay! Just take things one step at a time and try your best to breathe through it!
2. Do all the big things first and then fill in the details later. I know this seems obvious, but when you're working on planning, you can get carried away with the details!
3. Silverware is not always included in the package. Make sure to ask the venue to make sure it is!
4. Give yourself at LEAST 8-10 months to plan out the wedding weekend.
5. A week before the wedding, let everything go and relax! You've done all you can by this point, so now it's time for you to take a load off and ENJOY yourself!
6. If you can, move in all your clothes and furniture to your new home BEFORE your wedding weekend. Trust me, you'll thank us later.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I was very open throughout my process since I wasn't like other brides who had their dream wedding planned. Slowly, but surely things came together and ended up being extremely fun and memorable!

Don't forget to join us tomorrow for more. Same place, same time!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I found most of my vendors through Facebook and Instagram. Social media is great because you can preview a vendor's work before making a decision. The first thing I did when we set our date was reach out to hair and make up artists and started looking at venues. I was lucky to get the hair and make up artists that I wanted. Finding venues for all three days of our wedding was a bit stressful as venues book up really fast. Thankfully we were able to get venues that we liked and were within our budget. I did feel overwhelmed and looked into getting a wedding planner. I found Nida Khan from Red and Gold Events on Instagram and after our phone consultation I just knew I needed her! She made me feel less stressed and gave me great advice and recommendations for vendors. After talking to Nida I started booking all the other vendors such as catering, photographer, decor, mehndi artist, etc.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My family and I went to England to shop for my wedding. I knew from the beginning that I wanted my bridal dress to be red and gold. We had 3 days of shopping planned in three different areas. As we started shopping, I got overwhelmed because there were so many different options. But the very first dress I tried on was the one! Originally I wanted a red dress with gold embroidery but this dress was all gold with a red dupatta and just so beautiful.  When I put the dress on and looked in the mirror I was just like "Wow, I feel like a bride!" My family loved the dress too! We still shopped around for another 2 days but nothing compared to the first dress and in the end the first dress I tried on was the one I bought.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I enjoyed the whole planning process. From looking for vendors, to meeting with them to discuss details, to shopping for my dresses and jewelry. But I think the most enjoyable part was going for the hair and make up trials!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
The earlier you start planning the better. Venues and vendors get booked up really fast so if there's certain vendors you know you want you have to make sure you contact them as soon as you can.

Getting a wedding planner/day or coordinator is definitely worth it. Nida and her team from Red & Gold Events really helped take the stress away from me and my family during the wedding events. My parents and sisters were able to enjoy the wedding and mingle with the guests while Nida and her team made sure everything was going as planned.

Be organized. Getting a wedding planning binder or make you own. I made my own wedding binder and this helped me organize the details of all my events. It made it easy to see what has been done and what still needs to be done.

More inspiration is on its way, so make sure to visit us back to obtain lots of it!
