After their traditional Indian wedding ceremony, the bride and groomed slipped away to capture some intimate photos with Zorz Studios while Fragile Paradise prepared to bedeck the exquisite Regency Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh Airport. The bride exchanged her traditional bridal garb for a gorgeous tangerine and gold lengha festooned with heavy patch work. The bride keep her hair in braids and adorned with flowers. The venue was lit to perfection by EF Lighting with Planet Dj Productions manning a very packed dance floor! Fun was a key element at this lavish reception party! Guests were treated to tandoor galore with Taj Mahal catering setting up an impressive buffet with specialties such as tandoori chicken and lamb boti kebab. We made it through Thanksgiving Maharanis and now it's time for the wonderful Christmas holiday! Today we bring you a fusion Indian wedding out of Pittsburgh. Maharani Manjula and Evan have perfected an exemplary union and it’s exciting to see how the couple fused Manjula’s traditional Indian background with Evan’s Western upbringing for a unique and personal wedding celebration. The couple wed at the Hyatt Pittsburgh Airport with Evan’s mighty baraat led by a gorgeous Percheron draft horse from Carriage Limousine. Manjula was festooned in a traditional gold and orange silk sari draped under a plait styled braid adorned with white flowers. The bride opted for both a tikka and necklace that shown brightly on the her attire. I loved the aspect that this bride was traditional yet classy with classical draping and styling by Peacock Creations. The bride and groom opted for a traditional silk mandap designed by Fragile Paradise alongside wedding planner Divine Celebrations who orchestrated the numerous events. Zorz Studios was there each step of the way capturing all the images that you will find in the gallery.

In the second edition of Mala and Jason’s nuptial fete, we witnessed them joining in holy matrimony at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, followed by a luxurious and elegant reception. We were in awe of Mala’s entire look, starting with her swept back braided updo, the sheath wedding gown with romantic lace appliqués, and the timeless diamond necklace she added. Jason looked suave as ever in a classic black tuxedo paired with a satin black bow tie, and the two made for a smashing couple! The two whisked away their wedding party to the ballroom reception, where soft blue and yellow lighting lent a grandiose vibe. Exclusive Events NY made the stage look like a cosy candlelit dinner set up, and gathered cream drapes stole the show. Mala donned a deep purple lehenga with gold and green accents, and her hair was styled in a bouffant on the top with tight curls cascading down to her waist. Jason looked adorable in his tuxedo, this time with a green bow tie to match his wife’s. The tiers on the square white cake were lined with glittery gold ribbons, and seemed like something all the guests gladly devoured. The DJs from Desi Sound Crew brought in the party vibe, while Bukhara Grill kept the guests satiated with their fine contemporary Indian delicacies. Mala patiently and excitedly went over all the details leading up to her big day, and the planning process when we asked. We thought you'd enjoy this:

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Jason and I met at work – we both worked for a wine company in northern California. Jason had just moved there from Cincinnati and I had moved from Chicago, so neither of us knew many people in the area. Jason got into a small fender-bender and his car had to go into the shop for a couple days. I offered to give him a ride to/from work while his car was in the shop and quickly learned that he had a rescue dog named Rudy. The rest is history! We started taking Rudy to the dog park once in a while after work which turned into dinners and dates. We always say that it was Rudy who really brought us together!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
This will sound corny, but the most enjoyable part of the planning process was spending time together. We tried not to take any one aspect of the wedding too seriously, so we ended up having fun in the planning which I think flowed through to the execution of the events. We decided that our planning goal was to make a weekend of events that would be fun and memorable for all the guests to attend so they could eat, drink, dance and spend time together.

What did your guest particularly love about your Wedding?
Many guests told us how much they loved our cocktail hour - Honeymoon map, since it was something they'd never seen before. We had so many ideas of where we wanted to go for our honeymoon that we decided to crowd source our honeymoon location from our guests. We made a map and circled 4 options of location we could go to for our honeymoon and gave every guest one vote. We promised that we would go to whichever location had the most votes. And sure enough, Greece and Italy got the most votes and we went there for our honeymoon 6 weeks after our wedding. It made the honeymoon extra special since we knew our family and friends had a hand in sending us there.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Just have fun! If you're having a good time, your guests will also. The weekend was even more amazing than I could have imagined and it felt like the guests fed off of the energy and excitement of the Jason and I. We all danced the nights away and after the fact I realized that I didn't stop to think about what was supposed to be happening next or if the photographers were getting the right pictures. And in the end, everything happened perfectly and the pictures turned out great!

We had so much fun seeing our friends' SnapChat pictures using our custom wedding filter! The custom filter was quick and easy to make and made for really fun snaps and social sharing! One last thing I'd add is that this wedding was extra special for our families because it was a blending of cultures. Jason's family is from the mid-west (Cincinnati) and many of them had never been to an Indian wedding. They were really excited to learn about our traditions, wear the clothes, eat the food and especially DANCE to the music! As a surprise, Jason's family even choreographed a dance for the Sangeet night since they knew that was our tradition. It was so fun that they did that and it really showed my family and parents in particular, that Jason's family was jumping in head first.

It was Mala and Jason’s chemistry and the blend of a myriad beautiful elements that had us singing “all about that bass grace”. Bridal Arts and Events designed the multiple-event fusion wedding. Ajit Singh Photography brought the tasteful wedding to life, spending ample time capturing candid moments as well as choreographed portraits. We could really use some Bollywood lessons from Jason’s family, who seemed like they thoroughly enjoyed during the Baraat orchestrated by Horse Calibre Farm. Speaking of the Baraat, Jason entered on a horse wearing a sheen cream sherwani, embellished with blingy buttons and an embroidered gold collar. Mala looked like a true Maharani in her ostentatious gold and pink lehenga, paired with an exquisite necklace set and a chand bali maang tikka. Exclusive Events NY set up a distinctive mandap at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich, using just drapes and flowers. Gathered curtains in cream knotted at the centre with purple and pink blooms made for the pillars of the mandap, with an exaggerated draped dome ceiling. Bukhara Grill catered to the diverse palates of the guests with their fine, contemporary South Asian cuisine with a whiff of traditional Indian flavors. When we glanced at Rashi & Eric’s exotic outdoor wedding, we were convinced that Midas chose to drop by and leave generous touches of ethnicity, royalty, and of course, (antique) gold. Neetu Malhotra was the mastermind wedding planner, and Design by Ashley did the floral and decor work. Clearly, the two made for a stellar team: guests were seated under white and beige draped canopies. The chic mandap was monochromatic in all-beige with resplendent white and gold chairs, set against the rocky waterfalls in the paradise that was Four Seasons at Westlake Village. Seeing a chandelier outdoors gave us serious decor goals! Rashi looked divine in an au courant ornate cream lehenga with a hint of blue on the zari border, to coordinate with Eric’s navy blue khinkwab bandhgala that featured gold embroidery on the mandarin collar and sleeve cuffs. The pulled-back hair and natural makeup highlighted Rashi’s statement chand bali headpiece. After dancing away in the grand entry through the Baraat, and enjoying the ceremony, guests indulged in succulent Indian food from Manohar’s Delhi Palace. Our favorite part, obviously, was the little pooch in his custom haute couture outfit! Check out the remainder of this glam wedding through our gallery!
