How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met my soulmate at a bar on St. Patrick's day. I was out with my friends and he was out with his cousins and some common friends. My friend introduced us and at the time I was working on a film so she told him I was an actress. He was pretty intrigued by that and he kept on asking me about my "stardom life." I told him it was nothing of that sort and I was a mere struggling actress. However, his questions continued the entire time and I finally managed to blow him off and leave with my friends to another bar. He kept his name in my life by getting my friends to talk about him and a few of them told me he's a great guy and that I should at least go on a date with him. So one day I opened up FB, found his profile and messaged him saying "heard you were looking for me." He quickly responded. On our first date, we both clicked immediately and I knew he was the one for me. He was everything I never imagined in a guy and somehow he was perfect for me! I knew my life would drastically change in a great way and I would live an adventurous life completely out of my comfort little shell. And I was soooo right!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Binny made a short film about our love story using parts of the movie I did. He rented a movie theater in Williamsburg and got our family and friends to come to watch it. After that he proposed in front of that. This was all a surprise for me. It was our 3 year anniversary and Binny is king of surprises so he told me we were going to celebrate the whole weekend and had lots of things lined up for us. He wouldn't tell me what they were. We checked into the Wythe hotel in Williamsburg, where he had the theater rented in the basement. He told me that we were going out and that I had to be ready by a certain time. We had drinks at the rooftop of the hotel and I got ready for the night. We walked out of the hotel and went downstairs where he told me we would watch a movie. On the marquee it read “Tonight’s premiere: Unending Love” We were seated in the back of the theater because we were “late” and all seats were taken. Suddenly the movie started playing and I soon realized something crazy was going to happen. Once the movie ended, he took me to the front and when the lights went on in the theater, I looked around and saw that the audience was everyone I knew. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. BEST DAY!! Links will be sent of the proposal movie he made plus another link of the combined movie and of the night. He had set up hidden cameras to capture it all.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I did everything together, all at once and in no order. But it all came together in an orderly fashion.
We went from having a wedding to plan in 9 months to planning for one in 5 months. Our brother's both were expecting a baby so we either had to hold off on the wedding or plan is much earlier. I decided to go to India once with my mother and once with his. We did all the shopping for everything from there. We did our fair share of pinterest boards, google search and of course inspiration from all Maharani bride features. However, most of was also from years of planning what my dream wedding would be like. Lastly our wedding planner-Urvashi Mishra. I would tell her my vision and she would know every resource and vendor who could make that vision become reality.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always knew I wanted a Bengali traditional look for my wedding ceremony. The shade of red was my main concern. There are many shades of red, so choosing one that would suit me was the challenge. I went with my mother to Kolkata- the central hub of all Bengali wedding saris. I bought it from a store that's been around for many many years. They specialize in Indian silk, benarasi in particular. I tried many different shades of red and finally found one that was bright enough yet "sober" as they all called it in the store.
Fine Indian cuisine from Moghul Caterers was dished at an unbelieve wedding celebration and 321 Chillz served up chilled cocktail at the reception. Head on back for details of both events that you won’t want to miss.
