Maharani Mona, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Armin:
"Armin and I worked together for the Government of Canada. He has a very kind personality that attracted me to him. He also has a great sense of humour so he always knows how to make me laugh. We became friends before we started dating. Through friendship we developed a strong bond which today has turned into marriage. Armin and I knew we wanted to be together after seeing how good we were with one another despite what others thought given our culture differences. Regardless of our many differences we managed to attract one another for an entire lifetime. That's why they say opposites attract!"
On her Raja's surprise proposal:
"Armin proposed in Jasper, Alberta, in the Mountains right next to a glacier. He caught me off guard because he told me we were going to Jasper as a family trip with my parents and his mom. My parents and his mom were in Alberta visiting us from Ontario. This is why the proposal was even more special because he involved both families. It was a special moment as everyone knew it was coming but me!"
On her wedding style:
"We always wanted an outdoor wedding because we both love nature and water. We wanted something different and that is when we decided on a destination wedding. We had 142 people attend including our family and friends, the theme of our wedding was a fairy tale wedding. The colours were midnight blue, silver and white. Blue is Armin and my favourite colour. We had a total of 5 events in Mexico which were our sangeet/mehndi night, Mona's mayan, Mona's churra ceremony, the hindu marriage ceremony and the black tie formal reception in a ballroom."
On what she enjoyed most about planning her dream wedding:
"Having my dream become reality. I lived what I had imagined which was the best feeling ever. I am very detail orientated so everything mattered to me. Now when I look back and see all the details such as the fire show at our sangeet, sparklers at the sangeet, matching tees for all our guests, bubbles at the ceremony, sunglasses at the ceremony with a sign "don't get blinded by our love please take some shades", personalized umberellas for our guests, glow sticks a the reception, and $2 for each person given to the Hamilton Cancer Society on behalf of Armin's dad who passed away from cancer."
On her most magical wedding memory:
"My dance with my dad was very emotional and special for me. The song we danced to was "Papa mein bade see chodi"..which meant "daddy, why did I grow up from a little girl so soon?" Another moment that stands out was when Armin and I read our personal vows to each other after the Hindu ceremony. I loved that we had a personal touch at our wedding and we both spoke from the heart. We have framed the vows we wrote and have them in our home now framed."
On her hair and makeup:
"I had the best hair and make up artist. Her name is Ruchika Verma from Lesonne in Toronto. She made me feel like a celebrity with all the compliments I got from every event we had in Mexico. Each event was a different look which is what Ruchika was aiming for. I loved them all!!"
Additional thoughts from the bride:
"Our wedding bands as well as my engagement ring was made by my dad, Jeevan Dadar from JV Jewellers in Toronto. He is a customized diamond setter for over 30 years. I love my ring and it is even more special because my daddy made it. My bouquet as well as all of my bridesmaids bouquets was made by a very good friend of mine. That was also very special because she made them from fake flowers with brooches which we can keep for a very long time."
