Washington, DC, Fusion Wedding by Rimas Films

We knew we were in for something uber special and delightful when we learned that Rimas Films were the master cinematographers behind Akshita and Brandon’s big day! Their way of capturing, editing, and choice of music always strikes the right chord with the wedding aficionados within us! This fusion wedding was a trifecta of festivities that included a Sangeet, ceremony, and a reception hosted at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner Hotel. Ketan Shah of Elegant Events orchestrated this joyous fete, and it was so sublime from start to end! “Two days of intensive celebrations and rituals and I never saw the couple looking tired or bored. They were always smiling, laughing, and just radiating happiness…”, remarked Rimas Vasiulius of Rimas Films. And true to every word, the intimate Haldi ceremony gripped us with a feeling of excitement and warmth, as we watched the couple revel in the fun in their coordinated “wifey” and “hubby” tees. Elegant Events stole the show by singularly handling event design, lighting, styling, and floral and decor - what a multi-faceted team! The Sangeet was all about statement and minimalist ethnic decor, so elements like tangerine embroidered umbrellas, and silk cushions in hues of red and saffron reigned plenty. On the day of the ceremony, Brandon looked exuberant as he entered fon a horse in a gold sherwani, dancing away with his family and groomsmen. Speaking of the squads, both the men and women were dressed to perfection in coordinated purple and gold ensembles. Elegant Events set up a remarkable Art Deco style mandap using classic colors like saffron and red. We particularly loved that they utilized the entire stage instead of restricting the decor to the center. Akshita looked like the perfect mix of glamorous and traditional in an ornate red brocade lehenga featuring paisley embroideries, and black accents on the border. An air of mystique surrounded the reception that was lit in lavender hues, and featured crystal decor, stone-studded candelabras, and lots of sequins and sparkle. The stage was done up in tones of antique gold with three structures, and the middle one that consisted of a crisscross panel of candles was particularly enchanting. Akshita’s beaded ivory sari-gown was a showstopper outfit, and the muted Makeup by Mala was the cherry on the cake. The night of waltzes, singing, and speeches came to a close with DJ Ravi entertaining the guests, and Moghul Caterers pleasing their palates with scrumptious fusion cuisine. Canela Bakery baked a marvelous wedding cake that was the perfect finishing touch. All the fun and frolic was captured brilliantly by the award winning photographer duo, Katya and Arthur, from StoryMotion Studios. Watch this fairytale come to life by hitting play on the video!

Akshita, Brandon and Rimas Films totally took away the hump from our day! Come back tomorrow because you are so in for a treat with what we have in store for you!

Garden Grove, CA, Indian Wedding by AA Creation

Welcome to Harmandeep and Mandeep’s wedding - the kind that epitomized the spirit and aura of the Punjabi culture. The wedding extravaganza commenced with a Sangeet, followed by a traditional Gurudwara ceremony, and a reception at the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove. Like every Punjabi Sangeet, Harman and Mandeep’s too, had big dollops of vibrant colors. For the Sangeet, Amaya Restaurant’s ballroom was decorated in muted drapes, and the stage backdrop comprised of elegant damask curtains in green and fuchsia. Harman and Mandeep were in full swing, literally and figuratively: they were seated on a swing atop the stage! Harman was dressed in a solid red kurta pajama set with a pink waistcoat, and Mandeep wore a blue kurta and tangerine patialas with a matching parandhi. A Bhangra group kicked off the Sangeet festivities, filled with games, singing, and lots of shenanigans. The customary Sikh ceremony took place at the Gurdwara Buena Park; the pristine white indoors were accentuated with saffron details. Mandeep opted for a sumptuous crimson brocade lehenga paired with a red net dupatta for her ceremony, and Harman donned an embroidered off-white sherwani. Filmed by AA Creation, the video captured the pomp just as much as it did the understated elegance - the Haldi ceremony, Vidaai, and all other nuptial nuances were filmed wonderfully.

We love vibrant weddings just as much as you do, and will be back with another one soon. Drop by again to immerse yourself in more wedding glory!

Chantilly, VA Indian Wedding by Photographick Studios

Happy Thursday, Maharanis! You might've heard of today's fabulous Indian bride before -- Maharani Kamana is a lifestyle and fashion blogger! Her ultra glamorous Indian wedding was held at the marvelous Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles, and was filled with gorgeous fashion (including a coral  bridal lengha by Sabyasachi, 1:10!) and magnificent decor from L'Ambiance (1:22)! Of course, the blushing bride herself was also radiant, with hair, makeup and mehndi all done by the super talented team at Bridal Elegance by Suman Khosla! All her shaadi looks were dazzling, but we especially adored her ceremony look (1:53)! Photographick Studios beautifully captured all the most magical moments of this spectacular event, so witness everything for yourselves below!

Maharani Kamana on meeting her Raja and how she knew he was "the one":

"We met online during the end of December. When Shivanth first came to visit me in DC, the first thing I noticed was his smile. We met for brunch and ended up spending the day together, talking, laughing, getting to know each other. He was sweet, funny, and we ended up on a 10 hour long first date. Even though that winter was really cold, the weekend he came the weather was amazing we were able to walk around and explore the city. That’s the thing with us - everything always works out and feels so much better when we are together."

On the romantic proposal:

"After dating for eight months and meeting each other's family, we were ready to take the next step. I had planned a trip to visit Shiv (my fiancé) in SF, but was not expecting anything out of the ordinary. Shiv mentioned that he had an awards breakfast for work on Sunday. Thankfully, (since he knows me so well) Shiv mentioned that we would be taking pictures. After searching for a week, I found a pretty white shift dress on sale at Anthropology the day before my flight.

On Sunday morning, we drove to the idyllic Chateau St. Jean, nestled in the heart of Sonoma Valley. As we approached the estate, I saw an enchanting castle with vineyards, lush gardens and ivy-covered arches all around. Smelling the scent of vines, grapes and roses entwined with the morning dew, I marveled at how the scenery complimented the crisp summer morning. As we turned into the parking lot, I noticed there weren't many cars. Where is everyone? I wondered. I followed Shiv into the Chateau's secret garden. As I entered, I heard my favorite Atif Aslam song playing (the live acoustic version of 'Pehli Nazar Mein'). Walking in, I saw pink and white rose petals scattered on the walkway - leading to a cozy little couch. Above the couch were roses hanging from two trees with handwritten notes on heart-shaped cards. A monogram with our initials was etched on each mint and coral colored heart (my favorite colors). Inside each card was a message about why he loves me. Reading the cards, I was so touched by the elegance and beauty of each detail he had thought of. Then Shiv went down on one knee....

And he proposed with the most stunning ring I have ever seen. There were so many emotions and feelings of happiness wrapped in that moment. After the proposal, we called our parents to celebrate! We then took photos with our amazing photographer, Melissa, from Weddings by Sunnyside. We had the estate to ourselves since Shiv rented it out for the morning to keep the experience more intimate. Next we went for a reserve wine tasting in the Chateau's private outdoor lounge and enjoyed the estate's award-winning chardonnay. Ending the best afternoon of my life, we had brunch at Napa's historic Auberge du Soleil restaurant. We dined on the patio overlooking the gorgeous vineyards and enjoyed sparkling wine with our favorite dishes, including my favorite - chocolate mousse topped with triple crown blackberries, white velvet cake and pistachio dentelle - so delish!"

On her wedding style:

"Every girl has vision for their wedding day and I knew I wanted mine to be elegant, traditional and fun! When picturing my wedding, I always knew I wanted an outdoor ceremony. We selected the Westfields Marriott for its beautiful terrace and colonial look and feel. While we knew there could be a chance of rain, we decided to hope for the best. In wedding planning and in life, I’ve learned that not everything happens exactly how you wish. You have to trust that whatever happens, happens for the best - including rain on the morning of our wedding. Thankfully our friends and family were amazing and still danced in our baraat (a groom's outdoor wedding procession)! Our wedding planner Sagina saved the day by making sure our wedding ceremony was still as beautiful as we envisioned."

On her favorite part of planning:

"Personal touches. We wanted our ceremony to be a reflection of our love for each other, our family, and loved ones. Shiv and I are both very close to our grandparents. We added century old photos of our grandparents on their wedding day to our entrance and felt their blessings with us."

On choosing her bridal lengha:

"Coral is my favorite color and of course my wedding outfit had to be coral! I love how the color paired so well with our mint and gold decor and custom mint colored saris for my bridesmaids."

On the most magical parts of the weddings:

"While Indian weddings ceremonies run longer than most (over an hour!), we wanted our guests to have fun. The baraat - accompanied by a horse, DJ and dhol player, set the tone for a festive mood. The bride’s side wanted to make sure we had our own fun with 'jutti chupai,' a tradition where the bride’s sisters and bridesmaids stealthily take away and hide the shoes of the bridegroom. Our 'jutti chupai' lasted over a half hour with intense negotiations from the groom's side on how to get the shoes back!"

On the sangeet:

"Of all our wedding events, our sangeet was our favorite. From the start, we set the tone that our wedding should be fun, memorable and a reflection of us as a couple. Most important, we wanted our guests to feel taken care of. Our Sangeet catering, décor and set up was all done by Silk Restaurant & Banquet Services. Sanjeev, the owner of Silk, and his team worked tirelessly with us to understand our vision and create a one-of-a-kind experience. From spending hours going through my Pinterest boards to coming up with his own ideas, Sanjeev and I worked together to design the stage, color schemes, and décor, along with the menu (which our guests still rave about!)."

On the reception:

"Our intention for our reception was simple: have a blast! Let’s be honest, wedding planning can be stressful. Our reception was the perfect way to enjoy all the months of planning and spend time with our family and friends. We kept the program (speeches, performances, etc.) to a minimum and let our dance floor be the focus! With a laid back vibe, our reception was full of fun and one big party!"

Have an amazing day, Maharanis! We'll be back with another delightful wedding tomorrow!

Ontario, CA Indian Wedding by Avec Lumiere Productions

I instantly felt all the feels for today's Indian wedding film by the talented team from Avec Lumiere Productions as soon as I pressed play and heard the intro to one of my favorite bands, Sigur Rós' Hoppípolla — sold from second one! The uplifting tune accompanied an equally breathtaking haldi ceremony followed by incredible pre-wedding celebrations, where we meet blushing Indian bride, Ananta, and the Raja of her dreams, Nirav! The fabulous industry experts from Planning Elegance planned the happy couple's multi-day affair, which was followed up by their sensational ceremony and reception at the Ontario Convention Center. The exquisite event features stunning floral and decor work by the fantastic folks from 2Create Designs, who helped to create the Desi wedding of Ananta's dreams! The mandap was beyond elegant, draped in beige fabrics and crowned with red blooms, and the newlyweds' contemporary sweetheart stage just sublime! Maharani Ananta is flawless from start to finish, thanks to the handy hair and makeup work of Dolled Up By Lulu, and her and Nirav's adorable first look moments at the 5:14 mark will forever have a place in our wedding-lovin' hearts!

Maharani Ananta, on meeting the Raja of her dreams, Nirav:

"I met Nirav in 2008, in Philadelphia, where we both attended different pharmacy schools. We were friends for about 2.5 years, until we finally started to date. I knew Nirav was the one after 6 months of dating when "I love you" became a normal ending to each phone call."

On her Raja's dreamy proposal!:

"Nirav proposed to me at a pumpkin patch. He had set up an entire area with pumpkins that were carved out "Will you marry me". It was a very thoughtful proposal as Nirav had a dream about us dating and going to a pumpkin patch 6 months prior to us dating. He basically made his dream come true."

On working with her vendors to make her Desi dream wedding a reality:

"I was so confused and couldn't verbally describe what I wanted exactly. Thanks to my awesome decorator, Saman from 2CreateDesigns and Mili and Neema (Planning Elegance and Wedding Store 24) for making my dream wedding come to life! It was awesome!"

On her most memorable wedding memory:

"I loved watching my same day edit video at the reception, that was the one moment we were able to look back and reflect on our wedding. It was refreshing and so beautiful. I still can't believe everyone came for us, it was magical."

On her and Raja Nirav's meaningful music choices:

"We danced to Lovesong by Adele. It was an old Cure song that Nirav loved. Our entrance song was Boom Boom Pow by Black Eyed Peas. That was a meaningful song as it was "our" song from college days!"

On her hair and makeup artist:

"LULU is AMAZING. I love her as a makeup artist/stylist and as a person. She is so wonderful and I am glad we became friends after all this. I let her just doll me up and she delivered! Dolled up by Lulu (the entire team) is awesome!"

On the role that family and friends played:

"So many friends and family helped out and I am so thankful for each and every one of them! My mom's close friends were so sweet and helped us with everything. Also, my bridesmaids and maid of honor (sister) contributed a lot in making sure everything went smoothly. I feel like I will never be able to repay my family back for how much hard work they put into this."

On her dream team of wedding vendors:

"Mili was an amazing coordinator and she was spot on with time, something Indian parties tend to lack. I loved working with her! Her team is so sweet as well and made Nirav and I feel so comfortable and calm on our big day. All of our vendors were amazing and I have no regrets. Sumit from Mantra was a hit at the wedding and his food was on point!

Duc Nguyen of Avec Lumiere Productions, wesome guy and amazing video!

John of Greycard Photography was so nice and patient! I cant wait to see photos!"

We're thrilled to bits that today's Indian bride had the most positive wedding experience thanks to her amazing team of vendors!

Tampa, FL Indian Wedding by Jason Avery Films

Amita S. Photography recently introduced us blushing Indian bride, Payal, and the Raja of her dreams, Jaymin, in these fabulously photographed moments from their fairy tale affair in Tampa, Florida, and today we're going to be treating you to the equally stunning highlights that Jason Avery Films captured from the newlyweds' incredible event in a breathtaking film you'll never forget! All That Shines planned Payal's Princess perfect Indian wedding, which featured the most fabulous Desi dream decor work by the talented experts from Suhaag Garden! We loved watching as Payal's professional hair and makeup artist, Sumaiya Waheed, helped her get ready — and couldn't get enough of her and Jaymin's first look moment at the 1:26 mark! Check out the romantic encounter, and much more, for yourself!

Maharani Payal, on meeting Raja Jaymin:

"It was tour first week of college at USF and I was sitting by one of my best friends, Sruthi, in Chemistry 101. One row in front of us, sat my now husband. I whispered to my friend – “who is thaaat guy?” She nonchalantly told me his name is Jaymin – and of course mentioned that he was super smart. Later that week we were both early for class and standing across from one another in the hallway. He looked up from his phone at me and said “Hey, you’re in my chemistry class right? Let me get your number… we’ll hang out some time.” I gave him my number, but when he called later that night to get together with some friends – I made up a silly story about already having plans. Almost one year later, fate intervened and Jaymin and I started spending more time together. Over the next few years we became closer and closer. We spent every day together – scheduled our classes together, studied together and most importantly – we made memories together."

On her wedding style:

"When it came to planning the wedding, I knew selecting the decor would be my favorite part. For the wedding, I wanted a whimsical feel with pastel yellow, peach and coral flowing through the room to create an almost garden-like feel. The peach, coral and shimmering gold panels on the mandap were accentuated with a hanging chandelier to give a subtle glow. We topped it off with ombré flower petals lining the glitter raised aisle leading to the mandap. I truly felt like a princess walking down the aisle to my groom. For the reception, we followed it through with a color scheme of blush pink and gold. I had the best time selecting all of our decor options! We loved picking out the gold glitter linens and shimmering gold tusks and florals for each table. Suhaag Gardens was an absolute dream to work with! The most fun was selecting the mini-desserts for our decadent dessert lounge. The bakery even topped off our mini desserts with gold shimmer to match our decor!"

On shopping for her dream wedding lenghas:

"Choosing my wedding lenghas was the absolute best part of wedding planning! I started browsing online and fell in love with Anushree Reddy's collection and knew they would be perfect for my events. We tried for months to get in touch with the designer with no luck ... and I was losing hope. So my mom and I planned a trip to Mumbai to find something else that we loved. The night we landed, my bhabhi surprised me with the news that she managed to get us early access to an exclusive exhibition featuring the new Anushree Reddy collection at Ensemble. The moment I walked into the store, I saw the exact lengha I fell in love with on the runway! The mix of pinks, florals, pastels and gold were the perfect mix for my wedding style. My sangeet and wedding lenghas are both Anushree Reddy, and everything I dreamed of and more for my wedding day. My reception gown was from Shruthi Sheth and was exactly what I was dreaming of. I knew I wanted a gown instead of a traditional lengha and this was the first one I tried on. From the gold embroidered top, to the open back and the flowing white skirt, I knew I had found the perfect look the moment I saw it."

On her hair and makeup:

"As a self proclaimed make-up junkie, I was on the hunt for months for the perfect make-up artist. After searching online for months and half a dozen trials, I finally found the perfect person. Sumaiya and I discussed my preferences with hair and make-up for hours and I showed her my inspiration photographs and my wedding outfits. She created a perfect blend incorporating my inspiration, outfits and my own features. She was the best person to have around me the morning of my wedding. With all the hustle and bustle of the wedding morning, and all the jitters to go along with it, she was such a calming force as she dolled me up for my big day. The result was a classic look that I know I'll love for a lifetime."

On her most memorable wedding moments:

"Looking back at our wedding, so many special moments come to mind, from my family's surprise dance at the sangeet to our first dance at the reception. The most memorable moment for me happened during the wedding ceremony while we were in the mandap. I looked out to see all of our family and friends smiling, crying and laughing along with us as we took our first steps as husband and wife - we never felt so loved. It was an incredible feeling I know I'll never forget."

Have a fabulous weekend, my friends!
