Jacksonville, FL Fusion Wedding by Riant Films

Hello, Maharanis! Nestled amidst the sacred ambiance of the First United Methodist Church, Swetha & Melchisedek's journey began, resonating with promises of a lifetime. With each vow, the air became thicker with emotion, a testimony to the power of their love. Swetha's ethereal beauty, accentuated by the deft touches of Beauty Marked and adorned in the finest ensemble from Debra's Bridal, left everyone in awe. But, what truly dazzled were the radiant pieces from Givenchy and Nazranaa Jewels that complemented her glowing aura. The intricate Mehndi designs by Manu's Beauty Care whispered tales of ancient traditions and the bride's journey into marital bliss. The Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront transformed into splendor and romance as Swetha wore attire from Nazranaa. The magnificent decor by NJP Events & Design echoed their dreams, and the lighting set by DJ XFactor illuminated the couple's happiness, creating a celestial atmosphere. Their beats and melodies resonated joyfully, setting the stage for a night of laughter and dance. Each slice of the exquisite cake from Sweet and Chic Events tasted like heaven, while Riant Films impeccably captured the enchanting moments, immortalizing them in this beautiful film.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Melchisedek (or Jean, as most people & I call him for short) met in 2010 at the ages of 19 & 20 at the University of South Florida. Our first few encounters were in passing at the student center, thanks to our mutual friend (& later bridesmaid) Anita. Our real story begins, however, at a student event where Jean spotted me across the USF Amphitheater & asked me to dance bachata with him. I was hesitant at first, knowing that this Sri Lankan girl had no idea how to bachata, but I decided to take a chance & learn with this tall, dark, & handsome Haitian man. By the end of the night, we'd had such a great time that we exchanged numbers & continued to text through the rest of the night. Coincidentally enough, over the next few days, we realized that we were in two of the same classes. We became study partners, passing notes in class and studying together on campus. It wasn't long before our friendship grew into something bigger. Our relationship definitely stirred things up a bit; after all, an interracial couple (specifically a South Asian woman & a black man) was not the norm back then and was often considered “taboo” in both cultures. We took the negativity in stride, & it only helped us grow closer. One of the things that attracted me most to Jean was how important culture & family are to him, as both are so important to me as well. About 2 months into dating, he met my family in order to take us to the airport as we were traveling to Sri Lanka. At the time, because our relationship was so new, I introduced him as just a "friend." Regardless, he made such an effort to get to know my parents & ask about our culture. When we returned home, I felt this newfound connection to my roots, & Jean was so eager to hear all about my first time there. That's when I knew he was the one. Over the past 13 years of being together, that hasn't changed one bit & it's one of the things I love most about him. We make an active effort to learn about each other's cultures every day, never losing touch with our own roots but always eager to incorporate other cultures into our daily lives. Not to mention, he has been my biggest motivator & supporter since day one, always pushing me to be the best version of myself & cheering me on even when he can't physically be there.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It was nothing short of a dream come true, to say the least. On the eve of our 10-year anniversary, in the midst of the pandemic, & with the help of my family & friends, Jean pulled off a fairytale proposal - complete with twinkling lights, white clouds, balloons, & the song we first danced bachata to that fateful day playing in the background. At my childhood home, I walked in thinking I was going to a surprise party for my parents, & instead found a room filled entirely with balloons, twinkling lights, & fog. There, at the end of a pathway lined with flower petals & lanterns, stood my Prince Charming & our dog Aladdin, my Prince Ali, waiting with my dream ring. It was absolutely magical!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We always knew we wanted to have two ceremonies, a Christian ceremony & a Hindu ceremony & make every effort to incorporate both of our cultures into our wedding. It was no easy feat, planning two ceremonies & two receptions over two days. Thankfully, my sister Shankeer had gotten married the year before in a similar fashion & was such a huge help. Having planned two ceremonies + two receptions the year prior, she had done a lot of the research on vendors, venues, outfits, etc., for me. I honestly don't know how I could have planned everything without her! With her help, I was able to book most of my vendors early on, which saved us a lot of stress later in the planning process. For example, we knew we wanted to book Photos by Rob Futrell, our amazing photographer, as I fell in love with his work during her wedding. We also booked Beauty Marked FL again, as they did such an incredible job with my sister's bridal hair & makeup. For our Hindu Ceremony and reception bridal & wedding party outfits, I just knew we had to go through Nazranaa again, as we loved how everything turned out with our custom outfits & jewelry in my sister's wedding; & our wedding looks turned out even more beautiful than I could have ever dreamed of!

About halfway through the planning process, I realized that there were still several moving parts I needed help with. I decided to hire a wedding planner, & it was the best decision I could have made! Big Guava Events made the planning process much less daunting - helping me book the rest of my vendors, organize my ideas, create timelines & keep everyone on track & events moving on time during the wedding weekend. I definitely would have been lost without them!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Going through Shia with Nazranaa again was such a seamless process. We flew up to NJ & chose all of our outfits (bridal lengha, groom's sherwani, bridesmaids' lenghas, groomsens' sherwanis, bride & groom's reception outfits, & all jewelry) in just one day! I had a few colors & designs in mind, & Nazranaa helped bring my ideas to life. Our theme centered around royalty & peacocks for the Hindu ceremony and reception, so Nazranaa made sure to incorporate them into our outfits.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The decor! NJP Events & Design did such an amazing job taking all of my ideas & bringing them to fruition. When I walked into our reception ballroom, I actually started crying. I was so happy that everything turned out exactly how I imagined it. Our royal & peacock theme was a big hit amongst my guests, as there were so many little details incorporated into the weekend - small gold elephants adorned the head table, peacocks sitting on swings hanging from trees with crystals & lights as centerpieces, bronze peacock statues perfect for photo ops, a large peacock fixture on the arch of the entryway to the mandap, multicolored peacock light up rings & customized glow sticks handed out to guests on the dance floor, & gold, silver & rose gold trinket boxes as favors.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Expect the unexpected & have multiple backup plans! Our Hindu ceremony was to be held at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront on their River Deck, with a beautiful view of the St. John's River & the Main Street Bridge. There was a large Navy ship that docked right outside of our venue, completely blocking our riverfront view. This ship was supposed to be moved several months prior, but the move kept getting postponed. We had finally come to terms with this giant ship being the backdrop of our ceremony & had even changed our ceremony setup to have it only obstruct a part of the riverfront view, only to find out two days prior to the wedding that they were a hosting an outdoor Christmas party, complete with a dressed up Santa, drinks, & loud music at the same time & day of our ceremony! I was panicking - how could we hold a religious ceremony with a loud party right next to us?! We ended up having to move everything to an indoor ballroom. Thankfully, our wedding planner, Big Guava Events & decor vendor, NJP Events & Design, were able to work with the Hyatt & create a magical scene for our ceremony; & although it wasn't exactly what I had imagined, it was still beautiful in its own way.

I hope you enjoy this feature. Until next time, stay in love and keep celebrating every heartbeat.

Bensalem, PA Indian Fusion Wedding by Raj Photo Video

Hey there, glam loving Maharanis! It is Friday and to kick start the party we have a gorgeous featured film that is all things glamorous. I tell you that! The Westin Princeton at Forrestal Village was absolutely at its very best to house the celebrations of Aditi & Peter. It had to be like that; we know that Maharanis want only the best of the best for their nuptials. Keeping that in mind during the recruitment process, our newlyweds received the assistance of Aishas Wedding Decor, who decorated the venue and the lovely path to the aisle of these two lovebirds. Just look at those floral arrangements! Truly a decor to die for! But, and most importantly, the princess of the night, Maharani Aditi was what I call a real Indian princess. Her fashion choices and styles were out of this world. That also thanks to Looks by Jassi who assisted with hair & makeup and the saree draping & styling. Seriously, you can't go bigger than this! Want a closer glimpse of this dazzling jubilee? Check out the fabulous images, and get charmed by this cute pair thanks to Raj Photo VideoHit play below and see you on the dance floor!

What better way to celebrate than when the entire country is also celebrating? This year's 4th of July will always be remembered by our lovebirds and not only for the country's independence. Happiness comes from unsuspected timing and places and this wedding is no exception. From deep in the meadow, surrounded by mountains and the singing of the birds, away from the hustle and bustle of the big city of New York, Park Street Weddings carefully crafted for us to witness, the earthly union between Cassandra and Anu. Events Cherished was on the steering wheel the entire time, making sure that every detail went as smooth as the leaves touching the couple during the ceremony. And speaking of leaves, who better to handle the amazing decoration and floral arrangements than Jill from Earth Girl Flowers, definitely out of this world and in tune with the energies surrounding love! When the moon comes, the body knows it is dancing time. Mohnish from Desi Star Dj's made everybody jump out of their seats and join the dance floor. As this happened, Cima Bue and their fireworks gave an incredible scenography for our couple's Indian wedding grand finale. So join us at the beginning of Anu and Cassandra's marriage journey only here on Maharani Weddings.

Somerset, NJ Indian Fusion Wedding by My Wedding Day

A beautiful fusion marriage to set in motion our week, ladies! My Wedding Way captured the perfect match at one of the greatest weddings venues in New Jersey, The Palace at Somerset Park! Here, Sonali and Ted started their wonderful journey together in a big wedding that included a lovely Indian ceremony, a traditional Chinese Tea Ceremony, and finally a lavish western reception! With grace and beauty, Elegant Affairs Inc. adorned the ceremony and filled with extraordinary elegance the glamorous reception ballroom! The beautiful Maharani Sonali wore the most auspicious color for the ceremony and opted for a stunning white glittery gown for her evening trousseau that she completed with unique family jewelry pieces, a gorgeous henna design and a stunning makeup look from Makeup by Jillyan!  She had just the perfect style! The energetic Dj Amrit from Bollywood DJs with his extensive music knowledge made the special day the most unforgettable for the newlyweds and all of those around them! See the radiant devotion Sonali and Ted have for each other in the film below!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Ted when we were both working at a software company in Madison, WI. Our department was very small so it was hard to not notice the super cute guy who was in all our division meetings. We finally started talking after I got assigned to the project he was managing. After he crushed me in laser tag at our department holiday party, we ran into each other in a bar and spent hours talking over some late night pizza. He mustered up the courage to ask me on a date and we've been insanely happy ever since. I knew he was the one a few months later. Four months after we started dating, I left for grad school in another state. He was on a project in Hawaii. Without fail, every single weekend from the beginning of June until he moved to a different state for graduate school in September, he made the 13 hours, 3 leg trip from Honolulu to South Bend, Indiana. He never complained and never missed a weekend. That's when I knew he was as crazy about me as I was about him, and that it was forever.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I used to work right across the World Trade Center in Jersey City. My office had the best view of the city in my opinion. He surprised me by meeting me after work and suggested we take a walk along the water. Right when we got to the most picturesque spot, he dropped down on one knee and popped the question!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning a multicultural wedding isn't easy! Luckily, I am the youngest cousin in my extended family and had been to a ton of weddings to observe from. I knew I wanted a very specific traditional feel for the ceremony and a western wedding. My husband is half Chinese, half Irish, so we also incorporated a Chinese Tea Ceremony into our big day. Our venue coordinator at the Palace at Somerset could not have been more amazing. He helped coordinate the whole day so that it ran smoothly without me having to think about anything other than the fact that I was getting married. Our decorator, Elegant Affairs, made my visions come to life and were so helpful in coming up with ideas within our budget. All of my outfits came from India and were just perfect!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted a traditional red and gold lengha for the traditional wedding ceremony, and an off-white glittering dress for our western reception. I scoured the shops of New Delhi for three days before I finally found the perfect lengha. The second I tried it on, I knew it was the one. Looking back on pictures, I'm still convinced there wasn't a better lengha out there. For my ceremony dress, I spent MONTHS looking. One day, at a boutique in New Jersey, we spent about 3 hours trying on dresses. Literally the second I was about to give up and leave for the day, the owner mentioned that she had a new rack of dresses that she was just about to put out. On that rack, was the dress of my dreams. I tried it on, and it was like with the lengha - the second I put it on, I knew.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think the best part was definitely the food tasting. Our venue catered the BEST food. Over a year later, and the compliment we get most often was, "Oh my god, the food at your wedding was incredible."

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I've had so many people tell me that they loved that we had so many different cultures incorporated in the weekend. We had traditional Hindu, Irish poems, a Chinese Tea Ceremony, and a very western style Reception.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
During our first dance, Ted literally swept me off my feet and swung me around in his arms. Everyone went crazy with cheering and it felt like such a fairytale moment. It's also the part of the wedding video I rewatch the most.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Take a few minutes to drink it all in! The day(s) go by so fast so just take a few minutes and realize that this is the biggest day of your life and you are marrying the man of your dreams.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi took 7 hours but could not have been more perfect. My jewelry all came from India or from my mother in law. She provided all the diamonds for my mangalsutra and the gold for my husband's wedding band, which made them feel extra special. Our cake was devil's food cake filled with cannoli filling and was THE best cake I've ever had. I wish I could have more!

Looking forward to seeing you Maharanis tomorrow!

Jersey City, NJ, Fusion Wedding by Live Picture Studio

“This is the start of something beautiful,” went the background song of the wonderful wedding film of Ashwinee and Jeremy - totally apt and definitely gave us goosebumps! This one is a story for the ages, and the way Live Picture Studio brought it to life was simply admirable. The entire film flowed like a narrative, kind of like a symphony that leaves you speechless at the end. Ashwinee and Jeremy’s fusion wedding blended Indian and Jewish traditions in a distinctive manner, and Chetali Shah Gumaste of Wedding Elegance NYC ensured that it was planned and executed seamlessly. Hyatt Regency Jersey City was the perfect venue, and the outdoor spot chosen for the ceremony was so scenic and picturesque with the skyline and waterfront views. It was truly a moment of glory for Sachi Sood, who was instrumental in executing the cultural fusion. A chuppah-style mandap was set up in the outdoors, and it had a bit of everything - rustic charm through the floral arrangements on top, organza and sequin drapes brought in the glam factor, and white pillars to neutralize everything and gel in with the thematic decor. A highlight of this film was that Live Picture Studio emphasized on the significant and sentimental moments by juxtaposing the right beats at the right time. We also loved how we got to hear their love story through family and friends. Ashwinee’s momentous walk down the aisle was cinematically dramatized and really added a certain oomph to the video. Accompanied by her parents, Ashwinee blushed as she walked down in a quintessential red ornate lehenga that she paired with a statement matha patti and bejeweled choker. Pauline Nobles did a terrific job overall with the hair and makeup, but the side-swept, braided low bun was particularly noteworthy. For the ballroom reception, Sachi Sood combined vintage, Art Deco style frames with modish decor elements like crystals and sequined ivory drapes. Everything looked super grandiose and surreal, and we thoroughly enjoyed watching Ashwinee and Jeremy waltzing in their western ensembles. All the guests seemed to have a ball dancing to the beats of the DJ from Sunny Entertainment, and taking fun, kooky pictures at the photo booth. Hit play and revel in this cinematic feature!

We hope your week is off to a great start with Ashwinee and Jeremy’s film! For more such films, swing by the blog soon because we bring you wedding inspiration everyday!
