Austin, TX Indian Wedding by Epique Cinema

Hi Maharanis! Yesterday, we shared photographs by Joey T Photography of Nikita & Rohan's Texan wedding, and we're so pumped to share their wedding film by Epique Cinema today! This film takes us on such a wild ride, and could hold up to your favorite Bollywood flick, featuring a gorgeous couple, sparkling fashions, and colorful dance numbers. We were touched to find out that so many of Nikita and Rohan's family and friends flew in from all over the world, including 20 family members from India who had never been to the United States before! So sweet! Nikita and Rohan put together an all-star team to execute their wedding vision, including K.I. Weddings, who always come out in force for all wedding planning duties, and the visionaries at Prashe Decor, whose design concepts continue to astound us! The sangeet, ceremony, and reception events took place Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa, and featured delectable meals by Bombay Bistro, and non-stop music by DJ Prashant Poudyal. Nikita was decked out in hair and makeup by The Infinite Perfection and intricate henna by Nisha, and she glowed in every frame of this film! This couple and their family and friends are incredible dancers, and kept the party going past 1 am - Everyone looked like they were having a blast! Maharani Nikita fills us in on more details from her celebrations below, and you can also watch the video below to see more from these rocking festivities. And make sure to check out the full gallery to see more colorful moments!

Description of the Day from the Bride:

Our wedding week was AMAZING! I was kept happy and calm by my family, especially my younger sister and best maid of honor ever! We had friends and family fly in from Texas, Utah, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, Washington, and about 20 family members who came all the way from India for the first time! Every event was carried out beautifully and my husband and I felt so much unconditional love. I was very nervous for our first look as my then fiancé and I were kept away from each other all day. As soon as I started walking up to him from behind, I immediately started tearing up at the relief of seeing him standing there. My husband always makes me feel so loved and secure, and seeing him made me feel that way just minutes before our wedding. We had so many friends and family give special performances and speeches during the wedding week. In particular, our wedding party of siblings, best friends, and roommates put on a wedding dance performance that highlighted our 6-year relationship. They practiced for weeks before the big finale and I still watch videos of the dance till today! I would go back and do the whole wedding week over again because of how special it was and what a great time we had planning it with our AMAZING vendors.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I met my husband Rohan when we were both 19 years old at the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em)! We happened to meet through a mutual friend and once we started to talk, found out that we were both Marathi. We spent some time together the summer of 2010 and by the time classes started, were officially dating. I knew Rohan was the one when he told his mom about me a few months into dating. Instead of feeling nervous at the possibility of meeting his parents, I felt excited for that next step in our relationship and what else was to come!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Just shy of our 5 year anniversary, Rohan and I took a July 4th trip to Destin, Florida. He was living in New Orleans at the time so we drove the 3-4 hours to Destin. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun at the beach. Rohan had made reservations at a beach restaurant but when we reached, he went in alone and told me that our table wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes and we should take a walk on the beach. Looking back, it's funny that he even decided to propose to me, because I was so cranky and hungry and wanted to talk to the hostess myself - poor Rohan had to make so many excuses so I would just take the hint and walk on the beach with him! Rohan had a photographer waiting when he got down on one knee and we have the most amazing memories and pictures from that moment. I was so stunned at the moment that Rohan still reminds me till today that the first words out of my mouth after he proposed were "Are you serious or joking...is this really happening?" Haha!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Both our families are Marathi so I knew that my bridal sari would be a traditional silk Marathi one (turmeric yellow with green glass bangles). I knew this was also very important to my mother so we definitely connected over shopping for my sari and choosing colors/patterns. I wanted a color that would pop with the turmeric yellow color as well as match my bridesmaids beautiful skin tones, so I chose fuchsia. It looked beautiful on every girl as well as against the yellow of my sari!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

When Rohan and I had our first look, I did not expect us to get emotional. The anticipation of being apart that whole morning all leading up to the wedding ceremony was making me so nervous. As I walked up to Rohan from behind, I started tearing up from relief that I could finally see him - he is the one who keeps me calm, cool and collected in all aspects of my life. Rohan also mentioned he was getting emotional seeing me decked up as a traditional bride. I think it's one of those memories that I did not anticipate, but smile when I think about every time.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

For our sangeet, Rohan and I wanted pops of color wherever you looked! We wanted the traditional Sangeet décor with bright shades of fushia, orange, and pink. We also wanted there to be personalized touches so we had 2 specialty drinks made. A "Niki-rita" (strawberry margarita) and a "Hur-Ro-cane" (a classic rum drink famous in New Orleans as Rohan had lived there for the past 2 years). Since there was going to be indian food the following day for wedding and reception, we also wanted to showcase classic "Tex Mex" food for all our visiting friends and family. We had the Hyatt resort prepare classic Tex Mex dishes (chips/salsa/queso, shrimp fajitas, spinach enchiladas, plus deconstructed tres leches and churros with nutella sauce for dessert!) We had amazing performances from 10 of his mom's best friends, my childhood group from Round Rock, and his 20 (!) childhood friends...some who have never danced before! This event made us feel SO loved that people put in all the time to give us such great performances!

We loved hearing Nikita's behind-the-scenes stories! See you all tomorrow!

CA Indian Fusion Wedding by Paul Ortiz Films

Dear Maharanis, we have a very romantic video to take you into the weekend. This film was created by the talented Paul Ortiz Films, and features the beautiful couple of Semira and Kamal. Paul Ortiz captured such special moments and magnificent, sweeping cinematography, and we adored reliving this Sikh fusion wedding! We can't wait to see the photos by Q Studios International. The couple did such a fabulous job of melding their customs to create the most magical weekend. The ceremony took place at the Deshmesh Darbar Sikh Temple and the following reception took place at the Lodi Hutchins Street Square. The venues were elegantly decorated by Moda Floral, with Tandoori Nites providing the catering, and Fizz Bakery bringing the cakes and treats. Maharani Semira was a vision in every shot, with hair and makeup expertly done by Rabia Make-up Artistry. She dazzled guests in a number of bridal looks, from an elegant white strapless wedding gown to a richly embroidered burgundy lehenga. We definitely teared up while watching the couple's touching vows - It is clear how much this couple adore each other! Click play to enjoy Semira & Kamal's special weekend!

Cancun, Mexico Indian Wedding by Mike Cantarell Films

It’s only Day 2 of 2017 and Trina and Anil’s wedding film makes us feel like it’s going to be one stellar year full of stellar weddings! We are so in awe of Mike Cantarell’s work, particularly his team’s expertise with drones and aerial cinematography. “This was one of the most extraordinary weddings that we have seen,” shared the Mike Cantarell team. Truer words have not been spoken, because if holidaying at Cancun is itself so gorgeous, imagine what it must be like to get married there! Trina and Anil’s Cancun carnival at JW Marriott Cancun began with one blockbuster of a Sangeet that was all about regal colors like purple, red, and black. It featured a ton of impressive dance performances, and was festive fusion at its finest. The next day, a gorgeous wedding ceremony was hosted outdoors, expertly crafted by Rose Events with floral and decor work done by Alquimia Events. Pastels reigned supreme at the ceremony which worked amazingly because it was a day affair. Delicate tulle mint drapes made for the frame of the mandap, with roses in coral, peach, and red hues adding the right amount of pop. Our Maharani Trina looked like a Disney princess with ethnic regalia in a blue sweetheart blouse paired with a blush pink lehenga. We loved how her beau complemented by donning a blush pink embroidered Safa with his cream sherwani. Crystal garlands and decor gave understated elegance to the whole decor. This modern couple said their Marhabas by opting for an au courant Moroccan-esque beach side soiree in place of a reception. We think that is a fantastic way of keeping your post-wedding celebrations relaxed and casual! The outdoor, waterfront set up with string lights, fireworks that lit up the sky, and belly dancers turned the vibrant Moroccan feel up a notch. Jet skis, kite surfing, walks on the beaches, and photo shoots with picturesque backgrounds were native to the Trina Anil bash. We cannot wait to see what the photos by Claudia Rodriguez look like! Hit play on the fab video to be transported to Cancun in a jiffy!

We hope your Monday and your New Year is off to a marvelous start with this exotic wedding bash! The year seems promising already, and we cannot wait to share the awesomeness with you. Return to the blog soon!

Bretton Woods, NH Indian Wedding by Film Art Pictures Cinema

If a picture is worth a thousand words, what must a video’s worth be? Well, you’re about to find out with Priyanka and Mikesh’s gorgeous wedding bash from Bretton Woods. If you’re a regular on Maharani Weddings, you might recognize this one. We featured this blockbuster wedding on the main blog, and this epic photo by Thuy Pham Photography was chosen as our Editor's Choice! “Film Art Pictures Cinema flew in all the way from United Kingdom. I loved their work and Mikesh and I were very excited about the wedding film highlight”, shared Maharani Priyanka. Every detail was captured and presented with a classic Bollywood flair. Enveloped in blue and purple hues, the Sangeet was one bash that had us dancing from our seats! Priyanka twirled pretty in a sumptuous embroidered aubergine lehenga beautified with kasab and zari work. Film Art Pictures Cinema gave us serious hill station feels with glimpses of the picturesque outdoor scenes, and clips of the couple posing in the lush outdoors of the Omni Mount Washington Resort. These were also fantastic transition shots that served as a segue into theceremony. Mikesh made an exotic entrance in a horse-drawn carriage, with a Baraat arranged by Premier Entertainment. His squad coordinated adorably in midnight blue kurtas and gold dhoti pants. The Art Deco inspired decor by Alankar Event/ Wedding Planners was simply awe-inspiring. The three-part mandap featured ethnic elements like saffron and red drapes, antique gold columns, and a carved wooden backdrop in white. Looking like Mughal royalty, Priyanka donned a classic red bridal lehenga, complete with a jeweled nathni, matha patti, and hand jewelry that elevated the lovely henna design by Henna Cafe. Shreni Patel glammed up Priyanka and also did her outfit draping very elegantly. The finale was a gorgeous ballroom reception, lit up in lavender hues, and gleaming due to candles, chandeliers, and crystal work. The DJs from Premier Entertainment closed the night on a note of fun and frolic. Luxuriate in this regal affair by hitting play on the video below!

If, like us, you can’t get enough of this wedding, revel in the gallery full of amazing clicks by Thuy Pham Photography. Enjoy the last weekend of 2016 and return to the blog for a fantastic feature to mark the New Year!

Middleburg, VA Indian Fusion Wedding by Raheel Khan Photography and Films

Welcome back Maharanis for a fabulous wedding from DC!  We have a case of role reversal today, and I must say I think it's absolutely adorable! In this fusion wedding, our Indian bride donned a western gown while marrying her groom who embraced the Indian culture alongside his groomsman who all wore colorful sherwanis! It's something we haven't seen before on Maharani Weddings, but I can't think of a better symbol of embracing your new wife's heritage and culture. The bride and groom wed at the Salamander Resort and Sreeya brought along something blue; a glittering pair of heels with Mrs. Wells blatantly designed in silver glitter. Makeup artist Shaune Hayes gave the bride a natural and matte glow with soft, loose curls that enhanced Sreeya’s natural beauty. The bride’s mandap was a simple flourish of purple and green floral decor handcrafted by Tierra Floral. The ceremony was a dual combination of Sreeya’s Indian background fused with Shawn’s western upbringing with the ceremony officiated by Leora Motely. After the fusion ceremony, guests trickled into a ballroom onsite that was both enchanting and alluring in hues of purple and Tiffany blue. The Salamander Resort is a true one stop shop that also provided succulent cuisine and decadent desserts for the evening revel. Guests were treated to the sounds of Planet DJ Productions to a packed dance floor! A fusion Indian wedding is no easy feat, however, Perfect Planning Events pulled off this fusion celebration seamlessly! We love the Bollywood flair brought by the groom and groomsman and this delightful memory is forever etched in cinematic history! We will be presenting the photographic love journey caught by Moshe Zusman Photography in the near future! However, in the meantime, let’s bask in the cinematic story captured beautifully by Raheel Khan Photography and Films! Hit play below!

We love a great fusion story, and have to share this wedding from Rockleigh, New Jersey that still has smiling from ear to ear. See you tomorrow babes!
