Bay Area, CA Sikh Hindu Fusion Wedding by Wedding Documentary

Happy Friday, Maharanis! We've got a terrific filmy feature to kick off your weekend with: Malavika and Jasjit's Indian Fusion wedding! With a Sikh ceremony at the Fremont Gurdwara, a Hindu ceremony at the Sunnyvale Hindu Temple and a reception at San Jose's Club AutoSport, this shaadi was held all around the South Bay Area! With beautiful photos and a heartwarming video, Wedding Documentary Photo + Cinema captured every moment of this magical day, which was perfectly summed up by a speech at 1:34: two families becoming one multi-cultural family and sharing all their traditions. After two moving ceremonies (2:05 for Sikh, 3:37 for Hindu), it was on to the reception (6:10)! Catered by the amazing team at Jalsa Catering & Events, the reception had decor from Pushpanjali Events, a wedding cake from Sweet Tooth Confections and DJ Tanveer on the dancefloor to make the night memorable! See every touching moment and fabulous detail in the full video below!

Maharani Malavika on her romantic proposal:

"For our proposal, my (now) husband whisked me off for what I thought was a spur-of-the-moment road trip to Las Vegas. I fell asleep while we were driving (also part of my husband's master plan by having us leave late at night), but when I woke up later, he revealed that we actually weren't heading to Vegas, but were on our way to Disneyland. I'm a huge Disney fan, so I was pretty ecstatic! The next morning once we reached the park, he immediately took us to one of the restaurants where he claimed we had breakfast reservations. Since we arrived there before our reservation time, he suggested we have our portraits drawn at a small caricature booth nearby. Unknown to me, he had actually spoken with the artists beforehand and they had already prepared a portrait of us wearing our favorite Disney shirts. When the artist finished and handed the completed portrait to me, I saw that it had a small speech bubble for my husband saying 'Will you marry me?' Before I realized what was happening, I turned and saw my husband down on one knee with a ring!"

On her wedding style:

"The main focus for our wedding was the reception; since we had planned for our Sikh and Hindu wedding ceremonies to be fairly traditional, I really wanted our reception to be more modern and elegant. One of the big things that inspired me was a wedding palette collage I found of a navy/deep blue and silver wedding -- I loved the simplicity of the color palette, as well as the contrast between dark and light shades and the rich jewel tones from the blue. I also loved that it was so different from the traditional pinks, reds and golds that are typical of Indian wedding ceremonies. That led me to ultimately choose navy blue, white and silver as our colors for the reception -- and we also added in some pops of purple (my favorite color) to add to that elegant feel."

On deciding on her bridal fashion:

"I definitely spent lots of hours on the internet looking at outfits that I wanted to have represented in my wedding outfits! I eventually created a personal 'lookbook' that had pictures of outfits and colors I liked for each event, which ended up helping a lot because it gave me very clear ideas on how I was hoping to look for each event and as a result I was able to pick my outfits a lot more quickly than I'd expected."

On how her friends and family helped:

"Absolutely! Our family and friends were really crucial in helping out with everything. My parents have a wonderful group of family friends who spent weeks beforehand helping to plan all the details of each event, particularly the sangeet and Hindu ceremony. My sister and one of my best friends did my hair and makeup for the Hindu wedding, which came out beautifully. Lastly, we had a bunch of friends who helped me come up with Disney-themed name cards and table numbers for the reception, just to bring in some elements from the location of our proposal and my love for everything Disney."

On her venue:

"I really loved Club AutoSport, the venue we used for our reception -- it was one of the first venues we looked at and I think both my husband and I knew that it was the right fit for us from the beginning itself. Having different vintage cars set up around different locations in the venue really appealed to my husband; and both of us loved that the overall feel of the venue was very unique, sleek and modern, which fit the style we were going for and was something we really didn't find in any other venue we looked at. It ended up being a big hit with our guests too, who loved posing with all the cars."

Have a wonderful weekend, Maharanis! We'll be back Monday with another fabulous wedding film!

San Jose, CA Sikh Wedding by Robles Video Productions

Hello, Maharanis! Today, Robles Video Productions is bringing us an exciting Sikh shaadi spanning across Northern and Southern California! Our Indian bride's sangeet was held at Bombay Garden and R&R Event Rentals decorated for the event with a beautiful backdrop. Her amazing mehndi was by M-Sutra Bride; pause the video at 2:26 to see every exquisite detail! After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their wedding party posed for portraits taken by Timeless Moments Captured, and we love that Robles Video Production's footage shows us the fun behind-the-scenes from the photoshoot! At the end, Jasmine and Nick traveled to Pacific Palms Resort in City of Industry (near LA) for a show-stopping reception! Catch all the tender moments and splendid decor details in the video below!

Maharani Jasmine on how her Raja proposed:

"Our proposal had the good, the great and... the ugly. Yes, the ugly! Nick flew me out to beautiful Cabo San Lucas for my birthday. I was beyond ecstatic and I had a feeling that I would come back home as an engaged woman. The minute we landed, being the gym freak that Nick is he went straight to the gym to get in a quick workout while I got ready for dinner. When I got out of the shower, Nick had laid out the dress I had been eyeing for months on the bed waiting for it to be worn and I just knew tonight was the night! Nick had this beautiful dinner for two arranged on a private beach for just the two of us. We had a delicious five course meal and when it was time for dessert I was totally prepared. The waiter lifted the cover of my dessert plate and... there was no ring. So maybe tonight really wasn't the night? Nick hesitantly said my name and as I looked over to him there was this GORGEOUS ring in his hand. The waiter was so nervous he had given Nick the dessert with the ring in it and not me! I broke out in laughter and it had to be by far the cutest thing he has ever done for me. Unfortunately after the proposal I got the stomach flu. So for the rest of our 3 day trip I laid in bed sick out of my mind while poor Nick took care of me. Hey, at least I had this beautiful ring to look at in bed! It made being sick a little more bearable."

On choosing her wedding lenghas:

"My biggest fear during my wedding planning was picking my lenghas because I felt like as a bride it's the outfits that make you or break you, or at least that's what my mom has always told me. And let me tell you, Mama Sandhu is a perfectionist! So I thought to myself, who is just as picky and perfect as my mom? And the first person that came to mind was my dearest friend Heeral Thakkar. Heeral and her family own one of the most well-known boutiques in the Bay Area: Sari Palace, and it was only fitting to give her a call. Heeral was so excited that we were at Sari Palace in no time playing dress up and figuring out what styles looked flattering on me and what styles didn't. There was this one lengha in particular that we all fell in love with. It was so detailed and definitely a classic. I needed that lengha in my life! They always say when you know, you just know, and that is exactly how I found my wedding lengha. After that the rest was history. Heeral and her family were TOO good to me. All of my outfits (sangeet, wedding and reception lenghas), my mom's outfits, my husband's outfits and my bridesmaids outfits were all custom made by Sari Palace. The fittings were phenomenal and it all just turned out so perfectly. From the colors to the design, my wedding would have not been perfect without the Thakkar Family! A huge thank you to the Sari Palace team!"

On what made the wedding's special moments:

"Family. Throughout my whole wedding week all I could think about is how grateful I was to have such an amazing family. My family from San Jose to Sacramento to Alabama to Canada have been my support group since day one. And to see the family I was marrying into, how loving they are and how genuinely happy they were for Nick and I on our special day, made me even more thankful for this little life of mine. I can't believe it took me my wedding week to realize how grateful I am for them all. It's what made our wedding so special and I will forever hold all the memories I made with them that week close to my heart. I'm literally in a state of nostalgia while typing this out!"

On the special people who made her wedding a success:

"My wedding was in the Bay Area and my reception was in LA. Planning a wedding where the venues were 350 miles apart was a huge challenge. It also didn't help that I was working full time and working weekends when needed. My stress level at work was ridiculous and there was no way I could have planned this big fat punjabi wedding without the help of my family. I had a broad idea of what I wanted, but the people who really got the details down to the T were my parents and my in-laws. From the gold baby's breath in my wedding bouquet to the diamonds on my wedding cake, none of that would have happened if it wasn't for my mom and my mom-in-law. The taste that these two women have is impeccable. I cannot thank them enough for having such an amazing eye for the little things."

On her vendors:

"We had the BEST vendors in the whole entire world! I can go on and on and on about how amazing they were because without them I wouldn't have gotten my dream wedding! First and foremost: Geetika Judge who was the most amazing wedding planner a girl could ask for. Her ideas were so vibrant and she made this whole process so much fun and stress free!"

We'll be back on Monday with another fabulous wedding film!
