Huntington, New York Indian Wedding by STAK Studios

Happy Monday, Maharanis! We're getting ready to dive into an exhilarating week filled with some of the most incredible South Asian celebrations you ever did see, starting with this Indian wedding on the stunning grounds of the Oheka Castle in Huntington, New York! STAK Studios captured all the breathtaking details from this stately shaadi, where Elegant Affairs left their magnificent mark on the unforgettable floral and decor work. Before you see any of those details, let's meet the bride, Mili, and her bridal party, who are looking lovely as can be! Dharma Karma flawlessly finished Mili's hair and makeup in striking detail, and today's Indian bride is donning a radiantly red and gold wedding lengha that dazzles in divine fashion. Her bridesmaids are wearing violet blue saris with just a hint of green to complement the sensational outdoor ceremony decor you'll be seeing later today. First, you'll have to meet the groom, Prakhar! We'll be giving you an exclusive look at his baraat procession, next, but before we do, check out the complete gallery for a sneak peek at what's ahead — including a reception where Dhoom Events worked the crowd in captivating manner and Moghul Caterers delighted their palates with fabulous Indian fare!

Maharani Mili, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Prakhar:

"We met through a mutual friend in Boston. I had just moved for a new job and didn't know anyone in Boston, while Prakhar was there finishing up his last year of medical school. Our mutual friend kept inviting us to the same parties, and eventually Prakhar worked up the nerve to ask me out on a date. For our third date, he invited me to his med school gala. It was a perfect night, and we just totally hit it off.

I knew he was the one when shortly after we started dating I realized I could really by myself around him, and we could both let our weirdness shine. To quote Dr. Suess, "We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.""

On her Raja's romantic proposal:

"We were in Portland, Oregon on vacation, and we were going on a hike along the Columbia River Gorge. There are a series of waterfalls along the gorge, and he planned to propose at the last waterfall (Multnomah Falls). He kept rushing us through the first couple waterfalls, and I kept being like what is the rush. When we got to Multnomah, the photographer that he had hired texted him to stall because there was an Asian tour group at the falls. I was so confused from him rushing us and then stalling, but when he actually got down on one knee in front of the falls everything made sense. It was a beautiful setting and really intimate. We called/texted our close family and friends, but we didn't post an announcement on social media so that we could just concentrate on us. We enjoyed the next few days in Portland basking in our newly-engaged glow."

On creating her dream wedding lengha:

"I almost never buy my own Indian clothes. Usually someone (my mom or aunts) pick out clothes for me from India and I just wear whatever is brought for me, so I didn't even know what styles I did or did not like. I spent four months following Indian designers and boutiques on Instagram, and learning what was out there (I fell in love with Sabyasachi's work, but doesn't everybody?). We went to India and my mom's friend referred us to a custom designer that really understood what I wanted. Instantly, I felt like she knew what was in my head and I could trust her to execute my vision. On the day of the wedding, I was super happy with the end result.

Working with a custom designer is really nice because you don't have to compromise on anything. For example, in my evening gown, I really wanted a keyhole back and couldn't find that anywhere else. Working with the designer, I just had to say what I wanted, and she made it happen."

On her hair and makeup:

"Finding a hair and makeup lady was the hardest part of the wedding, hands down. I went through four trials before I found Saab, and let me tell you, Saab is a GODSEND. It was hard to find someone who didn't make me too white or too dark, someone who was able to cover my acne, someone who didn't make me look like clown, etc. I also feel like I spent more time with the makeup lady than I did with anyone else that day, and I needed to find someone who would be easy to talk to or not talk to (if I didn't feel like talking)."

Make sure to join me later today for some dashing highlights from Raja Prakhar's baraat!

Rockleigh, NJ Indian Reception by Joie Elie Photography & Cinematography

After a true-to-Maharani-style, west coast Indian wedding celebration, Anais Event Planning & Design heads to The Rockleigh in New Jersey, to help our bride and groom throw their second big reception with friends and family on the opposite coast. This time, it's Joie Elie Photography & Cinematography behind the lens, capturing all the event details for this spectacularly planned and designed post-wedding bash. With such a seasoned pro planning the most important days of her life, our bride is looking cool and collected in her mint-colored lengha as she poses for some portraits with her best buds and her new hubby! Her party-perfect hair and makeup by Makeup By Shaili is the stuff bridal dreams are made of and her elegant head-to-toe style reflects the rest of the days details — like the gorgeous floral work by Amaryllis Event Décor. The evening's menu of deliciously catered delights by Bukhara Grill Restaurant has been printed on some pretty stationery that compliments the floral border on our bride's stunning gown. No party is complete without some dance-inducing sounds, so to get the guests moving, DJ Suj brings in the celebratory beats, and as trends go — and we're pretty confident this one's here to stay — a fun photo booth complete with all the zany props you can handle was brought in by Nash Imaging. An unforgettable five-tiered wedding cake created by Le Petit Gateau, stands as the centerpiece to the night, and before it's end, the happy couple will share in the traditional cake cutting ceremony in the presence of their most loved ones. For a complete look at all the inspirational elements from this memorable event, head into the full gallery. Plus, you can see even more from this affair in Issue #5 of our E-Zine!

Woodland Park, NJ Indian Wedding by Jay Seth Photography

High off the previous day's sangeet celebration fun at the One & Only Westmount Country Club, Maharani Neha preps for her big day with the help of KC Makeup by Karuna Chani and her skilled hand. Jay Seth Photography is behind the lens and brings us these magical moments from the most important day of our bride's life. This lucky gal is looking super sweet in her bridal lengha, and I just love the detailed shot of her and her husband-to-be's wedding day footwear which gives us a sneak peak at her mehndi design. While the lovely couple gets their portraits taken, Preeti Exclusive and Elegant Affairs Inc. are behind the scenes making sure everything is bright and beautiful for the ceremony and reception. North Haledon, NJ Indian Wedding by Fotoimpressions

Ready for some after party eye candy, ladies? This official post-wedding bash is super chic and to die for. I absolutely love the dripping crystals and the warmth of the color combinations. This is one sophisticated and dreamy reception. The sweetheart stage framed by the cherry blossom branches reminds me of something out of A Midsummer Night's Dream. With seasoned planner Sonal J. Shah Event Consultants at the helm, would we expect anything but this positively pretty sensation? Our Maharani's reception gown is a show stopper and her hair and makeup look as amazing at the day's close as it did at the start of this truly memorable celebration thanks to SV Bridal Concepts by Sanjana Vaswani. Gotta love all the princessy details of this opulent extravaganza! Just makes a girl dream big, doesn't it? Kudos to Design House Decor for helping put together this sublime event with their floral and decor expertise. Fotoimpressions did such a lovely job of snapping up these special wedding day moments. For even more of this fabulous soiree, head on over full gallery

The bride on planning her dream wedding:

"I loved being able to use my creative side. In my profession we do not get to bring out that side a lot so it was a great opportunity to exlplore that side. I also loved the closeness it brought with me to family and to my in laws."

On her favorite wedding moment:

"I remember Rahul and I during our pictures just laughing about our first memories together and how far we have come. It really was a walk down memory lane."

On choosing the song for her and her groom's first dance:

"Our first dance was to "All of me" by John Legend. We took ballroom classes which were so much fun!!!I loved the lyrics that really express how despite all your flaws, the good should be taken with the bad."

On her friends and family:

"All of my friends and family helped with ideas on every part of it. I wasn't secretive about colors or concepts and loved all the input they had to give."

On her wedding vendors:

"I had one of the best planners out there. Sonal J. Shah and her team really take their jobs seriously. Sonal just had a baby the night before but still texted me the morning of my wedding to wish me all the luck. Ruth and Needi, who work with Sonal were so patient and sweet throughout my day. I really cannot say enough good things about all of my vendors. From the caterer to the DJ, everyone was so professional and I would highly recommend them!"

Hope you gals loved this wedding and can't wait to share the next one with you!

North Haledon, NJ Indian Wedding by Fotoimpressions

What better than a beautiful wedding ceremony at a stunning estate? This bride has made it down the aisle and is now ready to make things official in this traditional ceremony. This is one of the most elegantly put together mandaps I have laid eyes upon and that stunning floral chandelier is out of this world. The brilliant folks at Design House Decor are responsible for the flowers and decorations, and the planning and design was conceived and executed by the amazing industry veteran, Sonal J. Shah, and her talented team at Sonal J. Shah Event Consultants. Maharani Ami is perfection from head to toe and SV Bridal Concepts by Sanjana Vaswani has knocked our bride's hair and makeup out of the park. Thanks to Fotoimpressions for being there to capture these moments so that they can be shared with us and continue to inspire other soon-to-be brides. Check out the complete gallery for more details from this luxurious ceremony.

The bride on her wedding lengha:

"Pinterest! I really spent a lot of time on it and showed my designer a concept that I liked and she made it more beautiful than I can ever imagine."

On her wedding style:

"I really love blush and champagne colors. I wanted something that reflected us which was something with a hybrid of traditional and modern styles. I really love florals that make a statement and told my decorator that. She really made the room light up with humongous cherry blossoms and roses. It looked like an indoor garden. The venue itself was really traditional which I thought was a great contrast to the decorations"

Now that the main event has wrapped, our gorgeous couple is ready to get the party started. Up next is their lucious reception, so come back soon and check it out!
